Former Arkansas GOP Gov. Mike Huckabee says he is against changing the 14th Amendment to remove birthright citizenship.
"The Supreme Court has decided that, I think, in three different centuries," Huckabeee said in a radio interview Wednesday with NPR. "In every single instance, they have affirmed that if you are born in this country, you are considered to be a citizen. The only option there is to change the Constitution."...
But asked Wednesday if he supported such a change, Huckabee responded simply: "No."...

Huckabee is full of crap. The United States Supreme Court in United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 set out multiple exceptions to automatic citizenship by birth, including children of foreign ambassadors, children of tribal Indians and children of invaders.

If you are born to PERMANENT RESIDENT PARENTS, yes you are a birthright citizens. Kim Wong Ark case of 1896.
Illegal alien parents? Parents on a tourist visa? Not decided.
Parents are diplomats and born in USA? NOT a US Citizen.

This is the old, soft progressive/conservative tap dance I expect from the Huckster. This is a hot button issue now that we have found that 1 out of 12 babies born are anchor babies. Just more reason to disregard this daytime talk host.

In Huckleberry Hound’s mind, compassion has always trumped common sense. As his sorry record on pardons show, he thinks he has a special gift from Jesus to decide who is deserving of special rights. Unfortunately, the victims of the felons he pardoned just didn’t appreciate his gift.
Simple solution.
A Constitutional amendment as follows:
The fourteenth article of amendment to the Constitution is hereby modified. Citizenship shall only be granted to those born on US soil whose mother is a citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States of America, or, is a legal temporary resident who is married to the father of this child, who is himself a Citizen of the United States.
Funny how our living, breathing Constitution all of the sudden becomes literal and unchangeable with regards to this issue. I say lets propose and amendment to change the birthright rule and see if it will pass the legislatures.
When the 14th Amendment was written it was done to prevent the denial of citizenship to former slaves. The writers never imagined a time when women who are 8 months pregnant could fly in on a holiday and get citizenship for their baby. How far are we from our enemies sending over women to give birth here for the sole purpose of providing a supply of terrorists who cannot be denied entry into our country without a trial?
Also, almost all conservatives agree that the 14th Amendment ways what it says. That is why it needs to be changed. We are not twisting the language around or just ignoring it and passing legislation to contradict it.
Well considering the fact that all the talk about changing the 14th is a smokescreen to avoid dealing with the border, I have to agree with the Huckster.
Fix the border first and you’ll have less anchor babies being born, them we can figure out how to deal with the 14th amendment.

Allowing children born to illegal aliens in the US to become citizens is like a child being born in your living room to a home invader and claiming to be a resident of your house.

We didn’t find that out. We found out that one in eight babies born here has AT LEAST ONE illegal parent. That means the other parent could have been a citizen so the study was meaningless.
On another point: El Paso, Texas is 78% Hispanic. Yesterday the El Paso Times ran an on line poll on this subject, and 60% favored changing the laws on anchor babies.
