It's funny, in the first comment on that article, someone is lamenting the negative image his selection has brought to NC. They go on to comment:

Just curious - don't they do background checks on these people before they can run in the primary???

LOL - They don't even confirm citizenship of the Presidential candidate.

He now has a website and says he has raised less than $1,000.

LOL! That big money machine is rolling right along.

Demint would probably smash the guy Greene beat (Rawl) even worse. Greene, at least, would be guaranteed a near-100% black vote in a state that’s 30% black. (Yes, they’ll vote for him because he’s black. I went there. It’s the truth.) Chances are, if Greene gets tossed off the ballot and Rawl gets put back on? The loss of the pissed-off black voters who’ll stay home will more than counterbalance the Democratic voters that will say “whew, he’s gone, I can vote now!”

It’s definitely Demint’s election to lose, regardless of the opponent the Rats throw at him.

Even if they replace him, there is no way any replacement Dem is going to defeat Jim DeMint.

I guess that would rule him out as a Soros-sponsored candidate. Hmmm, sounds like Soros is racist....

I wonder...is the Richland County District Attorney a Democrat or a Republican? It might’ve affected their aggressiveness in presenting the case to a grand jury.

Allow me to suggest some Republican talking points:

Character doesn't count.
It's only about sex.
We are all imperfect human beings.
It shouldn't affect his performance as a Senator.
It's a private matter between adults.
These charges are racially motivated.
He was duly nominated by the people of South Carolina...

Can we keep him on the ballot?

From the WLTX news site: “...If Greene is convicted, he will not be eligible for the U.S. Senate. If he decides to withdraw from the race before November, the South Carolina Election Commission would decide how to proceed...”

Of the zillions of e-mail spammers that do this has even one ever been indicted?

Eh, whatever. DeMint has the general election locked up even if he got indicted on a felony obscenity charge.

I saw that, too. It's not true. From FactCheck:

"Q: Can a convicted felon serve in elected office?

A: The Constitution allows a convicted felon, such as Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, to be a member of Congress, even if in prison. It's up to the Senate or House to decide who may serve. As for state offices, different laws apply in different places."..............

So the only way they can replace him is if he withdraws.

If doing what he did is a felony, nearly every male college student would be going to prison.

Shoot, a whole lot of the females too.
