Not at all surprising. This is Schundler’s second gaffe since joining up. He had to go.

Lets not mix apples and oranges. Or in this case guns and butter.
School funding is mother’s milk to community organizers who can quickly divert it to any project (election PAC) that comes to mind.
Military is the enemy of this administration. Some of them are even capable of making command decisions without committee. They have not properly sucked up and the rank and file has not come around to community organizing in the Muslim Community. Object lesson time, no matter who’s district they reside in.

The general is ultimately in charge of the troops. If one soldier screws up, one soldier is punished. If a company screws up, the company commander is punished. If the entire army performs poorly, the general answers.

"In other words, Christie trusted Schundler and stood up for him, only to find out that there is video evidence that things went much differently from the way Schundler represented them. "

That's it in a nutshell. Christie has to recheck everything else he got from this guy including his views on teachers.

A man after my own heart. He is actually getting rid of the people that are not doing the job.

Eggsactly!
Had the NJ schools chief told the truth, Schundler would still have had a job. Christie was prepared to forgive the error about the application. You cannot tolerate deception.

Christie 2012!

Race to the Top is just another liberal slush fund - taking from and/or punishing some states to give to/reward liberal states.

The current Feds are not to be trusted. Christie should have asked about any videos of the event to ensure the Commish was not in the CYA mode and before he said nobody would be fired. I suepect he learned a valuable lesson here as it provided the libtards a chink in his armor.

Once it all came out, he of course did the right thing by canning the guy.

Palm,
Guess this happens every time a new generation of conservatives come along. They don’t realize that Schundler was a real conservative back when there was no such thing in NJ and Christie was who knows what.

RINO’s have been trying to get rid of Schundler for 2 decades. So today, the RINO’s celebrate. I guess it is understandable that the under-40 crowd doesn’t know Bret. But that makes them sound like knuckleheads on here.

Christie went to bat for this guy after being told it was just an honest mistake. Now the Feds prove the guy lied to his boss. Boom. Hit the street, and don’t let the doorknob hit ya’.

“His chief-of-staff is Dick Bagger?”

Yeh, he was carry-over from the McGreevy administration.

I don’t think that we can assess this issue fully because we will never know the full details. Apparently NJ was dropped from the running because they were told to use figures from before Obama took office and they used the more recent figures. There was something funny going on with the whole process and procedure.

First of all, one of the basics of the race to the top was that the states had to take steps to end or at least rein in teacher tenure or they would not be considered. Christie did just that, forced the unions to accept concessions. But the Obama administration and the unions were not happy about being forced to make those concessions by a Republican governor. They wanted the Democrats to get the credit. The Obama administration did not want to award the money to New Jersey.

When Bret Schunlder ran Jersey City he instituted the country’s second school voucher program after Milwaukee. This is a huge blow for voucher proponents.

They don’t realize that Schundler was a real conservative back when there was no such thing in NJ and Christie was who knows what.

Does that entitle Schundler to lifetime immunity from the consequences of incompetence? That's the kind of thinking that keeps the Charlie Rangels of the world in office: "He was great on civil rights way back when..."

If conservatives can't get rid of their own losers, how can they go after the Left?

So I guess it wasn’t just one bad page in a 2000 page filing. It’s not nice to lie to the Governor.
