were the boxcutters in checked bags? I once had a small pocket knife confiscated because I forgot it was in my purse, so I question whether they really got thru security with box cutters.

Islam does not recognize our Constitution, separation of “church” and state, or the rule of secular law. Mosques and sharia courts should be outlawed, since they promote violence and are subversive.

I know, and I have posted this now that the details have become clearer. The first stories were very confused.
The reason they were detected was that one of them checked his luggage through but then did not board the flight on which it was checked, and this apparently triggers a response, which in turn resulted in his checked baggage being searched.
It was definitely a dry run, no matter what the FBI says. The Muslims wanted to see how good our systems were, and they wanted to do so without doing anything that could get them arrested. Hence no explosives or anything “dirty.”
I guess they found out that our systems are pretty good. So they’ll try something else next time.
