Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer gave what can only be described as a cringe-worthy opening statement in her debate against Democratic opponent Terry Goddard last night.
Politico's Ben Smith, who picked the video up off YouTube, wrote that Brewer's performance "reflects either an amazing lack of preparation, or sheer panic."

Wish we had governors like her in every state.
We don’t care about her speaking ability, we care about her backbone. Arizonans are sick of the Hollywood version of politicans (other than McCain for some sick reason) we want honesty and toughness.

Gotta agree with that cringe part, even though it’s CBS. Counted five seconds on the second pause.
Did she get into the groove later in the debate? I hope Arizonans keep this woman in office!

The article also said she bounced back after the opening statement. I watched the video and she wasn’t very good but Arizona is going to re elect her in a landslide so it’s a moot point.
If she had, they would have wee wee'd all over themselves to show us.

Governor Brewer is so scrappy..That’s why we like her. She’s just that way in real life too. She inflexible, which in some things isn’t very good..but on immigration, it’s great!

Well, “cringe-worthy” to someone at CBS could be something as simple as “I pledge allegiance to the flag...” or “My country ‘tis of thee, sweet land of liberty..” or “I believe in God the Father...” or “People living in the United States who aren’t citizens or legal residents or visitors should return to their home countries.”
CBS is not even trying to hide its anti-American bias.
Brian Montopoli and Ben Smith take it up the hoop and sing show tunes. They are delusional. Brewer will stomp her opponent.
Yep, and I can’t even imagine living in a state where Terry Goddard was Governor. *shudder*
