HLI Denounces Eugenicist Professor's Call to Sterilize the 'Unfit'

FRONT ROYAL, Virginia, September 2, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) -  Monsignor Ignacio Barreiro-Carambula, Interim President of Human Life International (HLI), yesterday denounced comments made recently by British Professor David Marsland in which Marsland called for certain "unfit" members of society to be forcibly sterilized.

"Professor Marsland's comments only go to show that no evil is ever fully buried in the past," said Monsignor Barreiro. "Every time we think we've seen the last of the Sangerian calls to forcibly sterilize and otherwise do away with the disabled, we are aghast at their return." Monsignor Barreiro was referring to Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, and a noted racist eugenicist who, along with Adolf Hitler and many progressive intellectuals, openly called for such programs to be used against racial minorities and other "unfit" persons in the early 20th century.

"Our elites have established a society of contraception and abortion, wherein life itself is just another factor to be controlled at our whim. This society in turn creates more and more people who are depersonalized and marginalized, and they think that the answer to this is to simply get rid of the people whose situations we have helped to create? This is insanity," said Monsignor Barreiro.

"What many people may not realize is how mainstream Prof. Marsland's comments are in the 'progressive' academy. These so-called 'philosophers' are not lovers of wisdom, but destroyers of wisdom and of life itself. Only a corrupt person could make this barbarity sound so 'reasonable'," said Monsignor Barreiro. "We are not fooled. We must all denounce this evil and stop it in its tracks."

Monsignor Barreiro called in particular on Christians and all those of good will who serve in academia to reject Marsland's reasoning: "This is an opportunity to show that although we have disagreements, at least we can agree that Marsland and those like him have again gone too far. We must tell them that we reject the notion that human beings are mere animals that must be controlled by those who think they know better."

The truth is that the culture of death merely waits until they believe certain parts of society will once again be receptive to their evil agenda.

In an older, saner day, Mareland might well have been laughed out of his university post.

Is there a loophole clause to be found in Godwin’s law? Because I’m pretty sure that situations like this warrant an exception...

I developed “Wagglebee’s Corollary” to “Godwin’s Law” and that is that whenever the subject is euthanasia or eugenics, some supporter of those agendas will inevitably state something that perfectly mirrors Nazi propaganda.

"yesterday denounced comments made recently by British Professor David Marsland in which Marsland called for certain "unfit" members of society to be forcibly sterilized." Every where I look I see the UK leading Western Civilization into the abyss of destruction. The UK took the lead in 1967 with legalizing the internal, hidden holocaust of abortion there with the USA following in 1973. Today in 2010 the UK starts calling for the forced sterilization of the unfit. How long before USA starts doing the same? How before the next holocaust on those outside of the womb?

This is ONE professor who happens to be British advocating this. America has its own fair share of scary fundamentalist lefties, I'm sure.
In any case, if you want to talk about UK and US abortion law, UK abortion law is actually a lot less liberal than US abortion law. In Britain, an abortion requires the consent of two doctors, and is illegal after 24 weeks unless there are extremely extenuating circumstances that pose a risk to the mother's health and the child cannot be removed alive without putting the mother at risk. In the US, abortion is available on demand for the whole 9 months of pregnancy.

All that said, One of the great ironies of the 1960s, in Britain at least, was that at the same time that killing unborn children was being legalised and enshrined as a right, hanging felons guilty of murder was in the process of being abolished, with the last executions taking place in 1964, with the penalty suspended in 1965, and permanently abolished in 1969...

To me, it depends on how you define “unfit”. If that consists of serial killers, serial rapists, and serial child molesters, I think I might be able to support that.

Forced sterilizations are obviously evil, but I am fully in support of a voluntary sterilization program where you pay people 1000 bucks to get fixed. Especially, if they can be reversed at a future date if they get to the point that they are responsible enough to want and raise children
