...”I think he deserves the Medal of Honor, but this will do,”
...actually he might have been put in for the MOH and it got knocked back to a DSC...that happens sometimes...not withstanding, this gallant award should insure him an Army career for as long as he chooses....and that’s the way it should be...troops need to serve with real living breathing heros...they need to be around them.
BUMP!!!
They HATE MOH for living recipients. Dead heros never get to have opinions for a few more decades. Dead recipients quickly fade from the public eye.
Politicians (especially those in uniform too) only want to give MOH to dead men. It is losing it’s honest value and turning into a cult by denying it to numerous truly deserving men.
Our leaders only love a veteran when he can be cast as a victim, heros or strong veterans are an anathema to them. And it’s mostly decided by jealous staff types, far from danger.
the posted link does not work. Please re-post. Thanks.
Who is siting platoons in harder-to-defend spots, when several clicks away there is a perfectly useable ridge? Are they using our guys as bait?
Take the hill.
I read the article twice. Not once did the author mention just what the award was. Very poorly written.
Yes, most of us with even a modicum of knowledge of the military know he’s talking about the DSC, but if my mother read this article, she wouldn’t have a clue.
