Sen. Kaufman: GOP waging 'holy jihad' to extend tax cuts
The Hill ^ | SEPTEMBER 20, 2010 | Michael O'Brien

Republicans are fighting to extend tax cuts for high earners with the intensity of a "holy jihad," a Democratic senator charged Monday.

Sen. Ted Kaufman (D-Del.) said he didn't see any room for compromise with Republicans on the extension of income tax cuts that are set to expire at the end of the year, blaming the GOP for being unflinching on tax rates.

"We talk about bending — it's incredible. There's no bending! Pick up your morning Washington Post and find out what Republicans are willing to bend on," Kaufman said during an appearance on CNBC. "This is like a holy jihad to keep the tax cuts going."

At issue are the tax cuts passed early in the presidency of George W. Bush, which will revert to their rates preceding the tax cuts, unless Congress acts. Democrats, led by President Obama, want to extend all the breaks except for households earning more than $250,000 per year and individuals earning over $200,000 per year.

Rather ironic the Dems refuse to use the word “jihad” when talking about our fight with Islamists but have no problem using it (completely inaccurately) to describe the right…

It isn’t jihad - it’s war, the old-fashioned American way! We, American citizens, are the enemy to the left.

But a jihad can be a good thing right? Or is this a bigoted skum?

That’s their narrative. They’ve had the ‘buzz words’ handed down from Axelrod. Associate Palin, Tea Partiers, GOP with ‘terrorists’ for the couple of media cycles. This is quite hilarious to watch. Pretty transparent.

OK Ted...so the republican aren't bending...and you are? No, you're not bending either, now are you. You say "we talk about bending"...no, you talk about OTHER people bending, you don't do squat except lie.

It’s about time! And the next time Obama complains about the Republicans holding something hostage, there’d by gosh better be some real hostages!!

Well, I’m willing to bend a bit. I’d like to see non-DOD federal expenditures cut by 90%, but I might accept 75% as a good-faith compromise.

And echoed in the Washington Post.

Sen. Kaufman: GOP waging 'holy jihad' to extend tax cuts

EternalVigilance: Democrats waging 'holy jihad' to trash the Constitution, alienate unalienable rights, kill babies, grant special rights to sodomites, raise taxes, destroy the private sector, kill jobs, control everything, compromise our national security, destroy our national sovereignty, endanger our friends and allies around the world, grant amnesty to tens of millions of foreign nationals who have invaded our territory, and line the pockets of their union constituencies with trillions of taxpayer dollars.

There. That's better.

A truism if there ever was one. The intellectual dishonesty of Democrats knows no bounds.

And not very plausible, when their party is led by Hussein:

I’d say that the “holy jihad” being waged is by democrats determined to confiscate 40% of the pay of successful Americans and most of the nation’s employers

so many useless pork projects and union pensions to fund, so little time

allu akbar, Ted

“Well, I’m willing to bend a bit.”

I’ll bend a bit too. Let’s drop the “tax cut” only for people making $250,000 and up who are government employees.

A truism if there ever was one. The intellectual dishonesty of Democrats knows no bounds.

And that's one of the biggest difficulties I have in "discussing" any topic with liberals on other boards...they simply lie at almost every turn, and apply hypocritical standards...both forms of dishonesty. It's one thing to deal with someone who doesn't understand the fullness of a situation, but when they don't understand, don't care to understand and cheerfully lie at every turn there doesn't seem to be any common ground we can meet at. It is that sort of anti-intellectual, anti-honesty stance of liberals that will drive this nation to a violent revolution if they don't obtain some wisdom, and sooner than later.

Or lead to virtual secession whereby states, probably in some types of loose alliances, refuse to go along with unjust federal coercion. You can already see something along these lines developing with the large number of states challenging the constitutionality of Obamacare. Immigration is another such issue. Soon it will be some states being asked to pay the debts of other states. And so on.

Well, that might happen, but I'd wager that Obama wouldn't want to go down in history as the president who dissolved the nation, so he'd quote Lincoln and call out the military...and the revolution would go from there.

And let me be clear, I sincerely hope it never goes that far...but I see the progressives seeking to crash the system...but they're not skilled enough to do so without the mess.
