Feeling Slighted by France, and Respected by U.S.
The New York Times ^ | September 22, 2010 | SCOTT SAYARE

The residents of this poor, multiracial Paris suburb say they have been abandoned. For 30 years, they say, the French authorities have written off Bondy and neighborhoods like it, treating their inhabitants as terminal delinquents and ignoring their potential.

This, residents note, is not the approach taken by the United States Department of State.

“We’re waiting for the president of the Republic, for his ministers,” said Gilbert Roger, the mayor of Bondy. “And we see the ambassador of the United States.”

The United States Embassy in Paris has formed a network of partnerships with local governments, advocacy groups, entrepreneurs, students and cultural leaders in the troubled immigrant enclaves outside France’s major cities.

Begun in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks as part of an effort to bolster the image of the United States within Muslim communities across the globe, American outreach in these hard neighborhoods — often referred to collectively as the “banlieues,” or suburbs — has grown in scale and visibility since the election of Barack Obama.

France is home to five million to six million Muslims, Europe’s largest Muslim population, and the banlieues have long been considered potential incubators for religious extremism. But anti-American sentiment, once pervasive in these neighborhoods, seems to have been all but erased since the election of Mr. Obama, who has proved to be a powerful symbol of hope here and a powerful diplomatic tool.

Many suggest the Americans’ warm reception is a measure of these communities’ sense of abandonment. Others say it is the presence of Mr. Obama in the White House. Whatever the case, the United States is now more popular in the banlieues than at any other time in recent memory, say French and American officials.

WHY IS THE US STATE DEPT DOING "OUTREACH" TO MUSLIMS IN FRANCE, A FOREIGN COUNTRY?

"The United States Embassy in Paris has formed a network of partnerships with local governments, advocacy groups, entrepreneurs, students and cultural leaders in the troubled immigrant enclaves outside France’s major cities."

"A Muslim born to French-Algerian parents, she acknowledged the likelihood that the Americans had reached out to her, at least in part, because of her background."

WHY IS THE OBAMA/CLINTON STATE DEPT DOING “OUTREACH” TO MUSLIMS IN FRANCE,A FOREIGN COUNTRY? TERRIFYING IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT.

“...troubled immigrant enclaves...”

####

"Troubled" because of their savage, anti-civilization, intolerant death cult “religion”.

Nice to see Zero's administration taking his RaceMarxism act, out on the road, to international destinations.

I think it’s against the law for US Embassies to meddle in local politics wherever they are

What I find very troubling is why Sarko and the French Givernment are allowing this foreign interference in their country!s affairs.

This meddling has foreign state approval in some facets and disapproval in others.

It has been a long time since we have been able to do it without being badly bitten in the butt, no matter whose side we meddle on.

In some quarters, this internal outreach could be considered an act of war.

Obviously, the French are getting rid of the Gypsies by making Romania take them back; perhaps they’ll persuade Obambi to take the Muslims back with him.

What would Obama do if France's embassy in Washington was regularly meeting with Tea Partiers, the Cato Institute, Hillsdale College, the College Republicans and the Republic of Texas?

Wonderful, now our State Department is involved with “community organization”, otherwise know as subversion.

sounds great can we send you “our” muslims too?
This would do a great image and popularity boost for both obama and the us in the european public :-)
just imagine millions of europeans waving US flags and singing “o say can you see....” while watching millions of muslims beeing shiped with a one way ticket to the us so we never will have to see them again ;-)

isn’t this sort of meddling with internal French affairs EXACTLY the sort of thing they say causes the World to hate us (under Republican administrations)?

Why aren’t we encouraging the pro-free market, pro-American factions of the French monde politique? I’m thinking especially of that girl who was dubbed ‘the French Margaret Thatcher’ and who came out in favor of the Iraq War. Why aren’t we encouraging people like her?

Why are we even talking to the racaille? Is this some demented form of community activism? Free tickets to Pakistan-how’s that for ‘outreach’?
