Years ago when my husband was in college in the 60’s he worked on the line at Ford somewhere around Hamtramack over the summer every year. Those guys went out and drank their lunch everyday. It was always that way. They’d head to the bar for lunch and the bartender would have their shots lined up for them. It wasn’t just a that plant it was every where. I worked for GT in the early 80’s and our bosses always went out for three martini lunches. (I had the GM desk.) They were always wining and dining their customers at the Big 3. If they said they were going out to sell rubber, it meant they wouldn’t be back for the rest of the day.
