I cannot help but wonder why some want that gun on their hip....smarter for those with guns to have them concealed. then the bad guys don't know who to go after...I'd rather have a gun in my purse or shoulder holster than in plain site....I think those that fight for guns in plain site do a disservice to us....they will push until there is a backlash against all carry laws....but that is just mho..

It appears to be exactly the opposite of what you fear. Wearing a gun in plain sight is direct deterrence of crime. Few criminals want to risk an armed encounter.

While there has been some push-back from the far left, what we see is a normalization of gun carrying by citizens who do not wear a uniform. Most people simply do not care. Felons do not carry openly. Felons do not use holsters.

The left has worked for 100 years to delegitimize the carrying of guns by people who do not wear uniforms. It will take a little bit to re-legitimize it, but it is happening much faster than I ever thought it would.

I agree when I wear it on the hip it is a political statement. When I wear it concealed it is for safety. Why let the bad guys make you target #1 or #2? Surprise is part of a winning battle.

dont forget, Wis has NO CCW [Ill is the only other] so they have no choice but to Open carry...

tactically, there are pros & cons to either carry mode, in this case im definatly pro choice...

As another poster has pointed out, Wisconsin has no concealed carry law. I believe that they managed to add a right to keep and bear arms to their state constitution just in 1998.

Similarly, Kalifornia has a "may issue" concealed carry law which means that the majority of citizens will not be granted a permit. The only legal carry otherwise is open and unloaded. There are groups exercising this very limited "right".

In the early days of the Republic, the common perception was that only a criminal would conceal his weapon. I think several states have RKBA in their constitutions but specifically exclude concealed carry. Your attitude toward open carry is a prejudice. Why would you fear the open carrying of a firearm by me any more than you would fear the open carrying of a firearm by a uniformed policeman? Don't you think that most criminals would rather hide their intentions until they attack? What advantage would a criminal get by carrying openly?

Because that's their right as free citizens according to the laws of their state. Past political correctness has caused suppression of the use of that right, though not to the point of illegality. They are simply reclaiming lost ground.

"I" say......good for them!
