Siena College Poll: Cuomo has large lead over 'loose cannon' Paladino (likely voters at 10/05)

New York Democratic gubernatorial nominee Andrew Cuomo has a commanding 24-point lead over his Republican opponent Carl Paladino, according to a poll released Tuesday.

The Siena College poll of likely voters showed Cuomo, the state attorney general, leading the Buffalo-area businessman 56-32 percent. Fifty-nine percent of voters view Paladino unfavorably and 61 percent agree he "is a loose cannon, who doesn’t have the temperament to be governor."

Cuomo has an 11-point lead among independents and about twice as many Republicans back the Democrat than Democrats support the Republican: 25 percent to 12 percent.

“With four weeks until voters go to the polls, Cuomo remains in a very strong position to be elected New York’s next governor," pollster Steve Greenberg said.

The results of the poll come after Paladino confronted a reporter at a campaign event late last month after suggesting his opponent had an extramarital affair. He told the reporter "I'll take you out." The Republican has declined to apologize for his actions.

Paladino's fiery nature, however, appeared to help him win the GOP primary over former Rep. Rick Lazio. During that campaign, he promised he would "take a baseball bat" to the state capital of Albany to help root out corruption and establishment interests. But he also found himself in trouble when it was revealed he has forwarded e-mails containing explicit content to work associates.

BS poll. If the people of NY are dumb enough to vote for Cuomo who supports the Victory Mosque then they deserve what they get.

Apparently, if this is true, the people of NY prefer to be ruled by goons, thugs, and mob Elitist politicians who will destroy their state even further. Thieves in charge of their bank accounts.

I can’t believe they switched the NY gubernatorial voting to Wednesday. That’s gonna be really inconvenient for NY Democrats. Well, that just means you need to spread the word!

Oh know. The Democrats must have had a phenomenal September or something because they seem to be on the higher pendulum right now.....I don't get it.

A Quinnipiac University poll of likely voters taken just over a week ago and before the incident showed a tightening race: Cuomo only led Paladino 49-43 percent.

So, just because Paladino blew his top over a reporter who has been hounding his family, New Yorkers suddenly shifted their opinion by a huge margin???

What are New Yorkers anyway, fickle minded?

I’m with you.

The phrasing of this report is very suspect...”most voters agree that Palidino is a loose cannon”....come on...they must think we were all born at night....LAST NIGHT!

Like Newt says: it’s either the party of “foodstamps” vs. the party of “paychecks”.

The people of NY desrve what they vote for.

The Tea Parties are pushing to nominate non-politicians or as close to such as they can get. It follows that some candidates will not fit the usual template and act in ways that rub the political establishment and the leftist media the wrong way. Mr. Paladino appears to be doing just that. This does not bother me particularly and it may not be that much of a handicap this year. I expect, though, that as the Tea Parties mature and gain more savvy in manipulating the system that the rough edges will be smoothed a bit on some of these candidates.

In any event I would vote for a Paladino over any leftist rat running against him. Paladino may be pugnacious and a little injudicious in his use of language. But he isn’t an out-and-out enemy of the Constitution and the republic that is built upon it and I will take rough candor and honesty over polished mendacity any day.

Many are that dumb. Whoever has initiative has fled the steadily de-populating Upstate, and NY City lives off the Wall Street-Democrat-Government nexus, for now anyway.

I say BS....................

I say you are right.

Sienna College is a libtard institution, they are famous for push polls which greatly over sample Rats.

Personally, I disregard anything they conjure up without independent confirmation from a far more reliable source.

Paladino needs to step up the ads and link cuomo to HUD and the housing crisis. Watch his number go up.

Isn't Siena sort of the Debka of polling? Sure this isn't great news. But I'm not going to panic until I see something from Ras or one of the other big names.
