"Going to the Dogs in Bali" is my December 2010 "Rights Watch" column in GUNS Magazine. Aside from humans falling victims to rabid dogs, and to Sea Dogs engaged in rampant piracy throughout the region, we can also observe, not unexpectedly for those of us who warn against "monopolies of violence," tyrannical government abuse of its exclusive franchise.
An excerpt:
And in Gun Ownership and Human Rights, authors David B. Kopel, Paul Gallant and Joanne D. Eisen tell us of a much larger threat to human life and liberty than rabid dogs and pirates:
"[I]n East Timor, it was the Indonesian military's state-owned arms that were used for ethnic cleansing. As Charles Scheiner, National Coordinator for the East Timor Action Network, pointed out: 'The guns used by the Indonesian military to kill 200,000 East Timorese civilians were almost all "legal" [but] the line between legality and illegality is irrelevant to the victims .'"
How can you read the rest?
You can click here to read the column on a "regular" webpage, or, from the GUNS home page, click on the flash magazine cover graphic and download a complete digital edition of the magazine--for free. For those of you on dial-up or older computers that might have difficulty downloading large files, you can still read much of the content by scrolling down on the home page and selecting links under "Columns" and "Departments." And for those of you who prefer reading a physical magazine, you can either subscribe or pick up a copy off the local magazine rack.

The Gun Rights War
Another reason I'm jazzed about the December issue of GUNS is because my review of "The Gun Rights War," a compilation of essays by the late Neal Knox, appears on page 78. My assessment?

Please tell me what IMHO stands for. Thanks.
In My Humble Opinion.
Nothing to do with dogs, but I have to say it.
Did anyone watch Blue Bloods? It could have been a decent show but it reminded me of the ridiculous law in New York that citizens are not allowed to own or carry guns.
This poor guy who has been robbed on the subway several times buys a gun for protection which he later uses to stop some young thugs who are stealing and abusing passengers. So he is arrested. It made me so mad I couldn’t enjoy the show.
Move to Texas New Yorkers. You can protect yourselves here.
LOL! I just saw your response and wondered why you were offering me your IMHO!!!
Thank you! I’ve spent a lot of time trying to decypher that!
I’m Mad He’s Ours- referring to Obama
It Means Hating Others- referring to Tea Partiers
If Mad, Hail Obama- for obomabots...

teeman
