For a man worth $12.7 billion, Paul Allen has kept a relatively low political profile, aside from his mega-development in South Lake Union. He's donated about $93,000 to federal candidates since 2006 - pocket change compared to his philathropic ventures - and given to an ecclectic cross-section of mostly Northwest candidates, from Republicans Gordon Smith of Oregon and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska to all the Washington Democratic delegation.
His flight museum in Everett will be the site for Bill Clinton's visit next Tuesday on behalf of Sen. Patty Murray. And earlier this month, he donated a whopping $100,000 to the Defeat 1098 campaign to turn back Initiative 1098, the income tax for high earners. That donation matches those from other local billionaires, but puts him sideways with the Gates family, Sr. and Jr.
David Postman, an Allen spokesman, said the Clinton visit came about after Murray's staff checked with the flight museum staff about hosting a get-out-the-vote rally. As for the income tax, Postman wrote in an e-mail:

Thank you Paul Allen!!
YEP....and Bill Gates Daddy also fought FOR the Estate Tax Washington now has......what a guy.....glad to see Allen doing something!
Not too sure what all is going on in WA from down here but there can’t be that many high earners left in WA. Most of them are gone, well ‘cept for those King Cnty. lawyers ....
Another leftwing billionaire along with Bill Gates, Peter Lewis, George Soros, Warren Buffett etc etc
Trying to decipher the above sentence makes my head explode, but I think it sounds like Paul Allen disapproves of the scumbag Democrats and their class warfare.
In which case, GOOD for Paul Allen!
THIS is just the first step....starts at a certain level/percent....then they need to “change” the levels in the future....increase the percentage, decrease the levels affected....you know the drill!
... conveniently shown with a helicopter, for scale. Two, actually, in case you can’t see one of them.
I’m going to quibble... If you can land a helicopter on it, it should be called a ship... eheh. (and he’s got two copters)
“he’s got” should be “he has” but Facebook has destroyed proper grammar.
That “boat” came into the shipyard where I used to work. To say its incredible is an understatement. Security was extremely tight; only certain people were allowed on board. I got as far as the aft end. It has a tender that costs more than I will probably ever make. Not only does it have two helicopters, it also has two submarines and more jet skis than a friend could count in the time he had when he saw them. It also has a window in the bottom of the hull with a bar around inside and spotlights all around it. You could sit at the bar and look down into the water. And that’s just one of I think three boats he owns, all of which at one were in the top ten biggest yachts.
Sounds more like a carrier battle group.
I wonder if they're armed.
With all due respect. I will call it what ever I darn well please. Thank you
“I don’t hear jealousy do I”
Not in the least. How you got that out of my post I have not a clue
FYI I have met Paul Allen on a few Occasions. he is a hell of a nice guy
They did not show them if they were armed, but as concerned about security as they were I would be surprised if there weren’t guns on board.
No sense of humor today?
Paul’s grandparents lived next door to us when I was a kid. His whole family were good people. By the way that is a photo of his second SHIP. When it was completed the story was he would keep the other one at a seperate location, so at any one time he could fly to it and have them in another ocean. He has a very experianced crew, several former seals, marines ect. They do all kinds of neet stuff. What a toy. He has conservitive issue’s and he has liberal issue’s. All in all I think he is a decent guy.
A few years back he got in a bit if trouble for trying to buy shotguns and rifles in the Bahamas...he was able to finally make the purchase but it caused a bit of a brouhaha.
I was surprised he needed to buy guns...I’d have assumed he had Barretts and .308’s galore.

I misstated to you! I meant the other posters who wrote against Mr. Allen and not to you. I have the deepest respect for Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Paul Allen, and Steve Wozniak. Please accept my apology al baby.
