Davis responds to Kirk's voter integrity squads (CHICAGO LAUGH ALERT)
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | October 17, 2010 | MARY HOULIHAN Staff Reporter

At a get-out-the-vote gathering Sunday morning at a Bronzeville restaurant, Congressman Danny Davis responded to U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kirk's suggestion to Republican activists that voter integrity squads be on site for voting in Chicago's black neighborhoods, which tend to vote Democratic.

"Rep. Kirk thinks something will happen to his vote in these neighborhoods," Davis said. "Well, I'm here to tell him he's not getting any votes here. My question is why would he target areas that historically vote Democrat?"

Vote drive

Recently, without his knowledge, Kirk was caught on tape saying, "I have now funded the largest voter integrity program in 15 years for the state of Illinois. These are lawyers and other people that will be deployed in key vulnerable precincts. For example, [the] South and West side of Chicago, Rockford, Metro-East where the other side might be tempted to jigger the numbers somewhat." The comments were first reported on the blog ArchPundit. The issue of Kirk's voter integrity squads was raised at a gathering of African American elected officials at Pearl's Place restaurant Sunday on the South Side. The event was held to stress the importance of the black vote in the Nov. 2 midterm elections. Kirk's opponent, Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias, was there and called the tactic "insulting and disheartening and not what this state needs right now."

The Kirk campaign responded Sunday via spokesman Kirsten Kukowski: "Congressman Kirk supports statewide efforts to ensure a transparent election in which every legal vote is counted and every legal vote counts. A fair and transparent election should not be a partisan issue. The legal votes of Americans here at home and those wearing uniform overseas should all be counted fairly."

Republicans have raised concerns that military ballots might not be counted because nearly a third of the state's 110 election authorities failed to ship out ballots to military and overseas voters by the federal deadline of Sept. 18. Illinois election officials say they are working with the U.S. Justice Department to ensure all the ballots are counted by the deadline Nov. 16.

This is pretty hilarious in that Davis proves Kirk to be correct with his comment:

"Rep. Kirk thinks something will happen to his vote in these neighborhoods. Well, I'm here to tell him he's not getting any votes here. My question is why would he target areas that historically vote Democrat?"

Since Kirk is the kind of RINO GOP candidate that the 'rats say they like, why should he get a few of their votes especially going against a guy with a "threatening" ethnic name.

Just in case more people show up to vote than are registered there? To ward of zombo-American voters, back from the grave?

99.9% of IL FReepers are against Kirk. However, I applaud him for actually sending out lawyers in these areas that have a high voter roll of dead voters who always vote for democrats.

We all know how fraudulent Cook County is. I think the big winner here is Bill Brady because the only way Bill Brady loses is if the shenanigans in Chicago go unhindered.

And to hear Danny Davis talk about honesty in voting is an absolute joke. These guys are in power because of shady deals with unions and constant pandering to welfare leeches.

Chicago votes historically corruptly for Democrats, I would say they vote “Democratic”. They thug the vote. Kennedy bought an election.

That is, if we want to talk Chicago voting HISTORY.

This should be the norm every state. If our votes are so important then don't let them pull any crap....period

Does the military have the option of voting early like others do?

If not, they should. Then any deadline would be met and the low-life that don’t send ballots out in time couldn’t cheat.

It’s not a question of how many folks may want to vote for Kirk: It is a question of how many dead people they will be dragging up to the polls if no one is watching. :D

I was informed by a fellow freeper that the dead tend to vote in the last few hours on election day...so, be forewarned ...try to vote earlier in the day to avoid the rush...I was also informed that the dead also get the privalege of after hour voting as well...so if your precinct is inherently slow getting in your returns, it may just be that they are extremely busy with all those dead votes...OK?

1) Conservative Brady is polling much stronger than moderate Kirk in minority areas.

2) Moderate Kirk is racist to think most vote fraud in IL occurs in minority areas. In a rare moment, Cong Danny Davis is right. In IL Most vote fraud is committed by whites against whites.

3) Moderate Kirk again proves he’s clueless as to what happens outside his resume.

They don’t always vote at the end. One election I worked, the Dem precinct captain went into my polling place the night before and voted on behalf of those he knew “couldn’t make it to the polls the next day.” The election judges, especially the dominant Democrat who was my close friend, wanted to prosecute. But the Republican prosecutors refused as it was customary to extend professional courtesy.

I don’t think Kirk is going to win. If he loses, and other Republicans do well in Illinois, it will be one of the greatest repudiation of RINOs ever seen. Here he is, running against a tremendously flawed candidate, and he’s been defined as a liar by the Chicago MSM. Usually, when such a thing happens to a candidate, his base comes to his defense. But in Kirk’s case the question is, “what base”?

When a committed pro-choice, pro- cap and trade politician gets tough treatment from the MSM, I ain’t gonna ride to the rescue. Illinois conservatives are going to close the big tent door on Kirk.

Illinois “forgot” to mail out ballots to military personnel this year, violating the MOVE act. Somehow, I’m sure Dick Durbin had something to do with this “oversight”.
