Campaigning Obama says Republicans push 'snake oil'

President Barack Obama accused Republicans on Friday of peddling discredited "snake oil ideas" about the U.S. economy as he tried to win votes for struggling Democrats in a battle for control of the Senate.

Obama campaigned in Los Angeles for veteran California Senator Barbara Boxer, who faces a tough challenge from Carly Fiorina, the former chief executive of Hewlett-Packard. The president then headed to Nevada to stump for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who is in a fight for his political life.

"This is a choice between the policies that got us into this mess and the policies that will get us out," Obama told a crowd of about 37,000 people at the University of Southern California just 11 days before congressional elections that are widely seen as a midterm referendum on his record.

He’s pushing hatred from the stump, which means he’s on defense.

I guess he figures if it worked for him in 2008, it’ll work again in 2010.

I notice that 0bama's speeches this election cycle are quite different in tone compared to his speeches during his own campaign. In 2008, his was more 'positive' and uplifting, full of hyperbole promises that make people feel good. Today, most of his speeches are about this evil conservative and that evil Republican. Gone are any pretense that he would be 'post-racial' and 'post-partisan' leader.

And he is hoping his campaigning would give similar results as in 2008?

An avowed Communist Muslim calls the American People liars.

This maggot needs to be impeached, jailed and then deported back to his homeland, Kenya.

Well, well. . . .

America had the eloquence of Washington, the Adamses, Jefferson, Madison, and, in more recent times, Reagan, and even John Kennedy, who said,

"The same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe, the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.” - (John F. Kennedy - 1961 Inaugural)

Other examples of presidential wisdom and eloquence:

“The God who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time; the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them.” (Jefferson - 1774)

“Statesmen may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone which can establish the principles upon which Freedom can securely stand.” (John Adams - 1775)

“The Sacred Rights of Mankind are not to be rummaged for among old parchments or musty records. They are written, as with a sunbeam, in the whole volume of human nature, by the Hand of the Divinity itself, and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power.” (Alexander Hamilton)

“Without God, there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first and the most basic expression of Americanism. Thus the founding fathers saw it, and thus, with God’s help, it will continue to be.” (Dwight Eisenhower)

“Now the virtue which had been infused into the Constitution…and was to give it…the stability and duration to which it was destined, was no other than…those abstract principles…proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence—namely, the self-evident truths of the…unalienable rights of man…the…sovereignty of the people, always subordinate to a rule of right and wrong, and always responsible to the Supreme Ruler of the universe for the rightful exercise of that sovereign…power.” (John Quincy Adams, on the occasion of The Jubilee of the Constitution - 1839)

But, now, our presidential discourse has descended to new lows. Just listen to the political rantings every day on the TV by the current occupant of the White House by "the one" who was billed as the great "intellectual" and "orator."

Just slipped that Hamilton quotation in there to show that even those who did not become President were much more eloquent than Obama. (Smile)

I would be more inclined to refer to HOPE AND CHANGE as snake oil.

How has that HOPE AND CHANGE worked out for the average American? Guess it is working fine for the labor unions and all the wagon riders. We are darn lucky this group does not make up 50% of America just yet, but the Kenyan is sure making a fast track to that goal.
