Bill White campaign AWOL on open carry issue
Petition for Texas open carry continues to attract supporters
---------
Texas is one of only 7 states still banning the open carry of properly holstered handguns, but apparently that doesnt bother the Texas Democratic candidate for Governor, Bill White, or his campaign handlers.
Over the last few weeks, Whites campaign staffers, including Communications Director Ali Smith, have stiff-armed repeated inquiries from OpenCarry.org regarding the restoration of open carry rights in Texas. The question put to Whites campaign was pretty straight forward:
If a future legislature passed a bill restoring open carry rights in Texas, would a Governor White be inclined to sign it?
Ali Smith took several calls on the matter but ultimately just empty promised that [s]omeone will call you.

bill white is so ..... ex-Houston. And besides he and that snowball in hell have equal chances.
On two recent occasions it got too warm to wear my jacket, so I was forced to stash my sidearm -- or swelter... That just ain't right!
I'm not exactly pro-Perry, but, just maybe, he and his .380 might work to help us fix that here in Texas...
White? No way!!!
Since White was a member of Bloomberg’s gun control group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns until fellow democrat John Sharp called White out on it, I don’t think White wants us to have guns, concealed or otherwise.
White signed the full page ad in USA today, and a letter to Congress opposing the Thune amendment for licensed concealed carry holders to be able to carry in any other state.
Our last Democratic Governor, Ma Richards was no fan of guns, either.
