You are being unfair to the poor guy. Sometimes people do crazy things and you realize they were not the people you thought they were. The police say they have text messages. That is pretty strong evidence to deny. Her husband is a public servant who does not really have the luxury of a “no comment” statement.
The kid is 17. If the inappropriate behavior with him started this year it would just be a nasty scandal. However, it has been going on for 3 year so it started when he was 14. If we are going to have an age of consent law, then it needs to be a bright line. Any crossing of the line must be punished.
I can see some lawyers steering clear of her after the husband's statement.
Just an aside, the tone of the husband's remarks makes me think that he had an idea that wifey was fooling around, but the under age think just blew him away.
He probably had already suspected she was cheating on him, and just didn't realize who she was cheating with.
I give him credit for the statement. Why defend the indefensible? If it’s true, and he doesn’t want to believe it is, then he’s crushed.
