Meek says he's staying in Senate race
By Russell Small October 28, 2010 10:17 PM
Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Kendrick Meek denied reports by the Washington, D.C., political website Politico that former President Bill Clinton tried to convince him to drop out of the race and endorse independent Charlie Crist.
President Clinton did not ask me to drop out of the race, Meek said at a hastily called press conference Thursday night at his campaign headquarters in Miami Gardens. No one has called to ask me to drop out.

They are not going to throw me under the bus. I’m not going. Meeks
Thank goodness. Senator elect Rubio sounds good.
For search purposes, it’s Meek...no “s”.
Crist was on Great/FNC a while ago. What a puke.
I thought Meek stated earlier that Bubba did try to get him out. I thought he released a statement earlier saying he’d agreed then changed his mind.
Greta/FNC
Darn. I was hoping these offensive events would cause Meek to wake up(!), drop out of the race, endorse Rubio and join the Republican Party.
Klinton, Crist and Obama wanted to put Meeks at the back of the bus.
I watched Charlie Crist on MSNBC with the insufferable Olberman (just happened to be quickly switching channels) and later on Greta. This man has no shame. He is so power hungry, he will do anything to get to the Senate. What a disgrace.
Good for him so they want to get rid of the young black democrat man for an older white independent who use to be a republican man.
Is this an eye opener or what?
Mr Meeks has the right to run for whatever office he wants he has the freedom win or lose fight to become a Senator and for anyone to ask him to leave is just flat out wrong.
Crist’s story and Meek’s story are contradictory. In this case, I think Meek is the liar, although The Bronze RINO seems more comfortable in that role....
Interesting. Did KO seem to be buying Crist’s story?
Still hard to contemplate why Clinton confirmed the story, when it was obviously set up by Crist as a last desperate attempt.
There is no upside here for Clinton. I’m not getting it.
Normally Clinton would lie and deny.
Unless Clinton is purposely sabotaging democrats so the Clintons can blame Obama for losing the Congress.
The actual, genuine, primary selected Democrat candidate should not be pressured to drop out because a republican turn coat interloper has a better chance.
Clinton, me thinks, is trying to make anything good that happens in this election about him as the opening shot in retaking the party from Obama. The first overt shot of Hillary 2012....
Charlie Bronze floated the idea hoping that Meek could be convinced, Meek decides against it after Charlie lets it slip. Entire story blows up in Charlie’s face. End of story.
Heck the only cut and paste I can do involves scissors and some gooey white stuff!
