Yes but it just throws another log on the fire of stupid thinking....along with texting while driving, drunk driving, watching movies in the car, etc.
To: calcowgirl
Why is this A-hole supporting it?...because it will support farmers in Mexico who grow it?....KISS MY A@$, Fox!!
To: stuartcr
I think the violence related to drug cartels would be reduced because no one would have to buy from them.

Oh. I see. A billion dollar industry is suddenly going to close up shop and disappear.
Makes perfect sense to me.
And dopers will glady pay 50 bucks for a legal joint and ignore the 5 dollar illegal doobie.
Makes perfect sense to me.
I could go on and on with my sarcasm. But suffice it to say... Only a fool believes that passing Prop. 13 will eliminate the cartels.

“Vicente Fox wishes he could vote in California”
I'm pretty sure that he could if he really wanted. I imagine the drive-by media would interview him before and after. No doubt they'd congratulate him on his devotion to “democratic” ideals.

If California legalizes marijuana, it may help Mexican
peasant farmers, and boost Mexico's exports, he added.
Yeah, jefe, the United States exists so you don't have to do you job, ya jackwagon!!!

Nothing funny about it. Everyone knows that the black market brings products to market cheaper than any other method.

First, if you're going to call people "fools", make sure you don't make foolish mistakes in your own post first. It's Prop 19, not 13. We all like 13.
Second, Prop 19 may be a bad idea, but not for the silly reasons you list. I was going to vote for it, but I'm having second thoughts solely because there appears to be a clause in the prop which prevents businesses from "discriminating" against pot users, which I am sure will mean that businesses can't drug test, or fire someone for being stoned if they have a good "reason" (i.e. medical prescription). That would be death to the CA business world.
If pot were legalized, the cartels would lose massive market share. Period. That is not a difficult concept. They would not fold, because they have plenty of diversified markets (crack, meth, coke, heroin, etc.) and the other 49 states will still have it illegal, but to state that there would be no damage to cartel business if it were legalized is asinine, and ignores all logic and study of markets.

Glad you see it that way. I couldn't tell if you were being sarcastic or if you really were a lib wanting legal marijuana.
Upthread you posted this....

And I thought.
Yeah right. Try growing legal marijuana - in opposition to the cartels - and your place will look like this

It’s amazing that laws never seem to stop any of these behaviors.
To: Responsibility2nd
Yep, the cost savings start with production. Having to hide where you grow it saves a ton of money.

Alcohol, doesn’t seem to fit your model.

Ummm, if marijuana should be legalized it will eventually be grown in areas where soil and climate are most favorable for delivering the most flavorful and highest quality euphoria - much the same as tobacco. Although tobacco has been gown all over the world none has yet matched the quality of that grown in Virginia and the Carolina's. It's my guess we would see the same with marijuana...

The cartels would be cut out of the American market. There’s be no money left in it for them. And build the durn wall! You think I’m a liberal because I want to end the disastrous, wasteful war on drugs? I say, fight the hard drugs, not pot. And I don’t smoke it.

OK fine. I'm a fool. But I don't contradict myself in one paragraph.
Will the cartels "lose massive market share. Period."
Or
"They would not fold, because they have plenty of diversified markets (crack, meth, coke, heroin, etc.) and the other 49 states"
