Former President Bill Clinton tried to persuade Florida Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek to drop out of his U.S. Senate race and support Gov. Charlie Crist's independent candidacy in hopes of thwarting a victory by Republican Marco Rubio.
People familiar with the matter said the former president and other top national Democrats worry a win by the charismatic Mr. Rubio, a 39-year-old Cuban-American, would make him a political phenomenon capable of boosting the GOP's chances with Hispanic voters. These people said the conversation occurred during Mr. Clinton's Florida visit on Oct. 19. Mr. Meek wavered for several dayssuggesting to some that he could leave the racebut decided against it.
"They had a conversation about the fact that the prospects of him winning had passed him by and that the only way the Republican would be defeated is to jump on board with Crist," said a Florida Democrat familiar with the discussion.
The conversation was reported Thursday evening by Politico. * * *

Where is the outrage ____ ? Why aren't angry GOP strikers carrying signs marching in the streets protesting election rigging by Democrats ______ ? Where are the federal officials demanding that slimy old impeached Bubba surrender to them in handcuffs ____ ? I for one want to see Clinton doing the perp-walk in an orange jumpsuit and begging for mercy from a hanging judge in Florida.
But the will never happen. Bubba has too many good ol' boy buddies in high places. Oh, well. Nothing to see here. Time to move on.
Well, Bubba is a democRAT. Therefore, he did nothing wrong. There are no rules or federal laws to abide by when you are a democRAT.
The rule of law only applies to Republicans and conservatives...
*Ping*!
No siren because it's not a scoop that bubba klinton is lying, cheating, rapist crook.
Klinton tried to throw Meek under the bus.
Wonder what Bill offered in return??
Shows RINOs/Dems are part of one party— the Big Government Party.
So Obama says that we Republicans can sit in the back (of the bus), but Meek, the black candidate, gets to ride under the bus. :)
“...Obama must have put him up to it. ..”
absolutely!!!
Clinton's main concern was not helping Obama or the Democrat Party but rather blocking Rubio's political ascent as it could give rise to formidable competition for Hilary. With the Clintons, its always about them.
...AND disenfranchise the brown (Cuban) vote by trying to prevent Rubio from winning and giving them a voice for a change.
If Bubba the treasonous raping impeached liar didn't offer anything in return for Meeks leaving the election, there is nothing illegal about it.
If Bubba the treasonous raping impeached liar offered something in return for Meeks leaving the election, then he deserves jail time.
Of course, Bubba being Bubba, he probably was very careful in how he phrased everything...
Crist is more of a Bohner orange than white.
He had a very large headline last night. Said that klinton was talking a black out of the Senate race.
Note how Clinton has his lip pushed out in the classic pose he used famously back during the Lewinsky scandal days.
“With the Clintons, its always about them.”
That’s absolutely correct. Good point, good post. I would bet he offered some incentive somehow tied to Hillary’s coming campaign as well.
Mike
The famous Lewinsky lying lip. LOL.
There is no way to dress this up differently - Charley Crist is the de facto Democrat candidate in this race.
Poor black man gets killed, sent to jail, stoned, ridden out of town on a rail - no matter how you may cut it, the Democrats give the shaft to the black candidate once again.
And the surprising part is, that he, Kendrick Meek, was a GUARANTEED supporter of the Obaminator’s agenda. But wait - isn’t the person who tried to bully him out of the race no less than the first “black” President, Billie Jeff himself?
There is a struggle for the soul of the Democrat party, not between good and evil, but between evil and more evil.
We’re finally getting somewhere.
I really don’t have a huge issue with the fact that this occurred, politics ain’t beanbag. What I do have a problem with is the self righteous, sanctimonous left playing hardball yet obstinately refusing to shoot straight and “TELL THE FREAKIN TRUTH!
