Jerry Brown's election doesn't ensure end to gridlock (stupid title, scary article)
LA Times ^ | Nov 4, 2010 | Evan Halper and Michael J. Mishak

A Democratic governor and a legislative change from two-thirds to majority passage of the state budget means Democrats will control spending.

It is true that Brown and Democrats will be able to jam through their own spending plan without GOP votes if they choose to; passage of Proposition 25 allows lawmakers to pass budgets with the simple majority that Democrats command. It will no longer be necessary that two-thirds of the Legislature approve.

In that way, Tuesday's vote "is a tectonic shift," said GOP strategist Adam Mendelsohn. "Republicans are going to have to think seriously about how to reestablish their relevance."

California is going down the tubes and there is nobody to blame, except the stupid voters, who voted for Brown and Prop 25.

What I find scary, except feeling sorry for those in CA who voted AGAINST Brown, is that this is a preview of where the US is going, if the Republicans don't stop the Obama agenda -- hopefully they stay strong.

Californian has decided that it wants no checks on its spending so don’t come to the other states to bail your incompetent, wasteful asses out.

Californians probably should have legalized recreational drugs yesterday. They’re going to need ‘em. LOL!

Found more on Jerry Brown — he is responsible for California’s energy crisis by disallowing the building of nuclear power plant.

Here is an article written by a liberal, but you can look at the facts.

Brown’s green vision for California

http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-hayden-green-california-20101104,0,3281381.story

“During Brown’s previous tenure as governor from 1975 through 1982, the nuclear industry was projecting the need for one nuclear power plant every five miles along the California coast. One of them was slated for Corral Canyon on Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu. Corporate interests also insisted on the need for a liquefied natural gas terminal at Point Conception in Santa Barbara, saying it was necessary to keep the lights from going out.

Brown turned these powerful interests down, siding instead with the no-nukes movement and the early dreamers of a solar future. “

And more from the above article:

“The Obama administration still can wield regulatory power for energy conservation, and Boxer will continue to chair the Senate’s environmental policy committee. “

I think I am going to be sick — how could CA send back Boxer to the Senate?!

We've thought about it, but there isn't any part of the country that interests us more. Having said that, it's like a majority of the country had a big party yesterday, and I was home picking up dog poop in the yard when I realized I was doing it bare-handed.

The “checks” were somewhat illusory because the Democrats were always able to pluck off one or two RINOs.

"Republicans are going to have to think seriously about how to reestablish their relevance."

Let me clue you in on their 'relevance'. It will be their money that Brown will be going after to pay for everything. Their best course of action is to abandon ship and move to Texas, Oklahoma, or Arizona. Before too long, California will be issuing its own currency since there will be no one left who is willing to lend them money. Not to worry though, that crisis will not deter continued escalation in spending.

Within the next ten years, every productive business remaining in California will abandon the state. Refineries will close and send their business to Baja, Mexico. And then China will step in and buy up the entire state.

Legislative leaders have been talking for months about trying to regain lost ground, aiming to restore spending on social services, healthcare and education programs that have been scaled back during the prolonged fiscal crisis. They are panicked that temporary tax hikes approved by voters two years ago will expire soon, meaning less revenue. They want new levies on oil companies and other businesses to fund their agenda. Brown is wary of all that.

Didn't work for Aaaaaaarnold and not with Moonbeam either. CA is on the fast train to FUBAR. When they start begging for conservatives in Sacto then there is hope.

The end result is CA had to buy electricity from AZ and TX. The economy is so fu that they probably need less elec.

CA has been getting bailed out since Obama has been in office. This has been quietly going on in NY, IL, CA. The Feds are backstopping the debt and funneling money in. That will probably stop in early 2011. They have a name for it but I lost the article - it is not TARP. Something as bad.

Last SANE person to leave MoonBeamafornia, please turn off the lights!!

Since zero will want to “distrubute the wealth” and have the rest of America pay CA’s outrageous budget deficit, can the rest of the country vote to disenfranchise CA???

Inquiring minds . . . . .

“And then China will step in and buy up the entire state.’

I think a communist China takeover of CA would make things better, than the Dem control. At least the Chinese don’t believe that long tailed rats and bait-fish are more important than people.

Just HELL NO!!

I am sick and tired of that human pollution called "Californians" coming in to Texas. Even the so-called "conservatives" want to smoke dope and feel obligated to tell every Texas they meet how much they hate our weather, beaches, scenery etc. Texas and Oklahoma are special places with a distinct culture, Californians of any tribe will just pollute, corrupt and bitch about that which seems to work.

Silicon valley can move to the South Carolina Technology Triangle - the coastal cultures work better together and that area is already corrupted with urban liberals.

Hollywood seems to love Europe more than the US. and the moral culture there is depraved enough to accommodate their licentiousness

It seems to be an environmental crime to grow anything other than marijuana in the once fertile valley, so I guess the US will just have to import.

The illegals and the union thugs can stay in California and feast off of the corpse of Sacramento.
