So true, and Portland does the same for OR and Denver for CO and Omaha would for NE if it were large enough.

The message is clear. The GOP cannot just be Party of No. Instead, voters are insisting that they work with Obama and the Democrats, creating solutions to float the sinking economy.

Translation: Republicans have to give into Democrat demands even though they won the election. Funny how no one mentions "Democrats working with Republicans" when they win.

I’m only comparing the two most recent mid-term Senate races in PA. Obviously turnout is much higher in Presidential years and the margin in Philly will be too. Obama’s margin in 2008 was 478K, for example. John Kerry’s was 412K in 2004. Toomey will have a much tougher challenge winning in 2016 when there will be Presidential election also on the ballot. Whoever he faces, his fate will still rest on competing hard for votes in the Philly suburbs and in Western PA.

Wrong. Sewer’s are useful. Philadelphia is more accurately described as a broken toilet with a 5 day accumulation of unflushed turds.

For those from the area, I used to be a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep in Phila. My territory was North Philadelphia(Badlands) and West Philadelphia.. After running that guantlet I went to the other part of my territory, downtown Camden! Did I mention that I USED to be a Pharm. Rep?

I worked B’ham, AL as a pHarmer for a while. The downtown clinics were the most scary. Had a Pziser rep get robbed in broad daylight at one clinic. The McKesson dcelivery folks hated going to the downtown, Westend pharmacies where more than one Pharm delivery has been robbed at gun and or knife point right in broad daylight parked outside a pharmacy.

Kerry's margin over Bush was only 144 K in 2004, about 0.1% better than Bush's margin over Kerry in Ohio, you know the race that was so close that it had Kerry waiting until almost lunchtime the following day to concede.

Yes, BO's margin over McCain was about 620 K and Bob Casey Jr. had an even easier cakewalk over Rick Santorum, but that was before people knew what was inside these packages.

Toomey can do us a great deal of good in six years. I'm not even sure he will run for re-election in 2016. The man had proven he can make a good living and promote good economic policies outside of politics.

Thank God it’s Senator Toomey and not Senator Sestak!

Don’t underestimate the power of prayer in getting Toomey elected.

I was referring to Kerry’s margin in Philly only. You are correct that statewide Kerry only won by 144K.

Sestak is a “no termer”.

I wouldn't trust Sestak in a porta potty with a muzzle on.

I wouldn’t worry about Toomey too much. Statewide, Republicans perform better than REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CONTENDERS. I am a resident of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvanians love being ticket splitters. In 2004, Bush lost Philly 412K but Corbett definitely outperformed him as did Santorum over Bush in 2000.

Looks more like Fast Eddie Rendell on an Iron City beer bender.

Not to mention, turnout for those races outside of presidential choices is lower. Corbett won by 7 in 2008 for Attorney General re-election at the same time Obama was winning the state by 10!
