Illegal immigrants speak out in Maine

PORTLAND, Maine — Illegal immigrants are speaking out in Maine in support of federal legislation they say would make it easier for them to become legal residents.

Two young women from Massachusetts and a young man from Maine who are in the U.S. illegally spoke out Thursday to urge Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins to support the so-called DREAM Act. The act would let high school graduates who were brought into the U.S. illegally as children become legal residents after spending two years in college or the military.

Twenty-five-year-old Selvin Arevalo moved from Guatemala to Portland at age 14 in search of a better life. He now faces deportation.

He said there are hundreds of thousands of people in his shoes who came to the U.S. as children and deserve a chance to stay.

They deserve a chance to stay?! Well, they “assimilated” that attitude darn quick anyway.

Illegal immigration is illegal. Rallies like these should be come “sting operations” for ICE.

These people are not "FROM" those states - they are visiting those states or living in those states but they aren't FROM there.

It should be illegal for reporters to conceal the identity and location of any illegal alien. These people need to be rounded up and deported, not given even more “free” education, welfare, health care, housing and other stuff on my dime.

No doubt the third ‘girl’ Scott Brown will be joining the other two creating a ‘nightmare’ act for the rest of us.

They deserve to go home and take their fancy degrees and help advance their own country.

Seems illegals are always “speaking out.” For a bunch of people who are supposedly “cowering in the shadows,” they sure do speak out a lot. And what about Americans who “speak out”? We’re called names and told to shut up.

They should left at 18 1/2 and tried legally. Now begging for a free ride due to a prior sense of entitlement doesn’t wash. Their parents did them no favors making them not only illegal but ignorant as well

Why didn’t they stay in MA where it’s not illegal to be illegal?

Only in America can you be here illegally, appear openly and demand rights.

Damn, are we a weak country...

A crocodile tear for them. If this goes through its a ticket for every savvy illegal alien to take two years in basket weaving at the minimal skills college and become legal. They can do it part time or nights. What a joke. There is room for exceptions where some youngster didn’t even know they were illegal and has gone to college and made a productive life that benefits America as well as him/herself and we would want to elect to have that youngster stay as an American. But those cases need to be considered on an individual basis. These protesters are demanding rights they do not have and it is a big trapdoor they seek to open, one that is not in America’s best interests since there is no proposed mechanism to vet these proposed new citizens. Seems like a way to reward illegal behavior and by doing so get more of it!

Illegal aliens should be heard saying one thing, over the sound of directed gun fire:

"Run!!"

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

LOL! And proclaiming their “rights” and grabbing their freebies is about as far as they’ll get down the ol’ path to the melting pot.

From an email I got:

Canada was the last non-U.S. holdout. Illegal aliens stopped getting citizenship for their babies in 2009.
Australia’s birthright citizenship requirements are much more stringent than those of H.R. 1868 and took effect in 2007..
New Zealand repealed in 2006
Ireland repealed in 2005
France repealed in 1993
India repealed in 1987
United Kingdom repealed in 1983
Portugal repealed in 1981

Why don’t you check some facts before spewing hate on Scott Brown.

Yeah, I guess it doesn’t matter if Martha Coakley won, right?
