For Obama, it's back to a new reality By: Carol E. Lee November 14, 2010 04:10 PM EST

The trip began with policy successes and a glowing reception, welcome respite for a president fresh off of a stinging political defeat. But the terrain got thornier as Barack Obama made his way across Asia.

Dancing with schoolchildren in Mumbai and reconnecting with a piece of his childhood in Jakarta gave way to a setback on a free trade deal in Seoul and tense confrontations from his counterparts aboutAmerican leadership on the global economy. By the time he headed to his last stop – a gathering of world leaders in Japan – Obama was on the defensive and frustrated with how he was being portrayed.

“What about the compliments?” the president told reporters when asked what criticisms he heard during his conversations with other heads of state.

Unfortunately for Obama, it doesn’t get easier from here. The worst of his nine days in Asia is better than the new reality in Washington he faces when he returns home Sunday afternoon.

He has to figure out what to do about tax cut issues the Democratic-controlled Congress punted before the midterm elections, and how to find agreement in a divided Congress on how to fund the government through next September. He meets Thursday for the first time with newly-emboldened Republican congressional leaders, whom he’ll host for dinner at the White House.

He’s going to have a very rough time. The media senses that things have changed, and they cannot cover for him in the same old way. Now, his failings will be on the evening news.

They should compliment him on how well he reads a telepromter and should wonder who are the puppet masters who writes his words.

What will they be serving at that meal Sir?

Surely not 'humble pie' on the menu

This next few weeks will be dangerous times for our Republic.

0bama has abandoned the news media’s military-must-be-gay goal and 0bama has extended the news media’s hated war in Afghanistan.

The news media would turn on 0bama in a heartbeat if only they could retain political power while so doing. Therein lies their dilema.

For power, the news media will continue to genuflect and kowtow.

...didn’t really help them on November 2, though.

A perfect retort from the press would have been, “Well, what about them?!!??”

How about this one:

For a crypto-Marxist leader, you haven't killed many citizens yet...

Blatantly stolen from the venerable quote, "for a fat person, you don't sweat very much"

Oh my God, what an infant.

Forget trade agreements, this guy wants applause everytime he goes potty without messing his suit.

The man has surrounded himself by complete sycophants. The rumored ‘shake up’ in his inner circle will be just rearranging the titles and giving his buddies raises.

I was looking for the quote from Woodward’s book on Tom Donilon from one of our Generals who called him a total idiot. Shortly after Woodward’s book came out, Barry promoted Donilon to Nat’l Security Advisor....Look at the quote from Donilon below and you can see why Ol Barry promoted him............

The president’s national security adviser, Tom Donilon, cast the India and Indonesia stops in monumental terms.

“I think when historians look back on the trip to India and Indonesia,” Donilon told reporters in Yokohama, “it will be one of those seminal moments, one of those iconic moments in the relationship between countries when historians look back on it.”

I think the leg tinglers are finally figuring out that Barry’s feces may actually carry an odor. This is a major symptom of Hopium Withdrawal.

He’s part of the me-generation. They always need to be praised in order to keep their self-esteem.

OMG. That sounds like something one of Hitler’s inner circle would have said. He is truly a dangerous man.
