Those who truly understand socialism and are still on board with it are secretly convinced deep down that they are smart enough, savvy enough, connected enough to game the system to their own benefit.

But that's the smart socialist (The ivy league educated socialist types). For the smart socialist this form of government and economic model creates a near fixed cast like system as in Russia, China, Venezuela (today), Cuba, Vietnam, N. Korea etc. and those on the top stay on top because they essentially own the means of production through the state. The real security isn't for the worker bees, rather the political class that is entitled. The ivy league socialist is in reality an elitist that feels entitled to be running and owning everything and you also hear this echoed over and over when they essentially state that markets shouldn't be free, that people shouldn't be given free choice in purchases, when they want to run health care, the retirement system, education, transportation .............
The dumb socialists, like those in the projects voting for their slave masters simply vote for socialism because in their ignorant bliss think they'll get a free piece of cheese from this system.
