ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Evidence found at the remote, rugged Alaska site where an F-22 Raptor crashed indicates the pilot died, an Air Force official said Friday evening.

Part of the jet's ejection seat was found at the site, which means Capt. Jeffrey Haney of Clarklake, Mich., could not have survived the Tuesday night crash, Col. Jack McMullen said. Also found were pieces of the flight suit Haney had been wearing.

SONOBUOY PING!

Click on pic for past Navair pings.

Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist.
The only requirement for inclusion in the Navair Pinglist is an interest in Naval Aviation.
This is a medium to low volume pinglist.

Don't know if hoax or what, but just posting to see if anyone knows anything about it. . .

Well, if a person was in a position to know details of secret activities the ASW forces of two navies were up to for the past several weeks, they would know how to spell the word "navies."

Then there's the fact that the "missile" fired off "from within US territorial waters" on November 8th was not a missile, but a UPS MD-11 leaving a contrail. Proof here. Also note that the "mystery missile" in LA was under observation for ten minutes, which is flat-out physically impossible if the object was a sub-launched missile.

The email says the F-22 went down in Denali and Freeper ASOC has reported it as being near Talkeetna. Well, here are maps of those locations:

Denali

Talkeetna

Think there's any chance of a sub hitting an aircraft with a laser that far inland? Since it would be over the horizon from the sub, I'd love to hear the author of this email tell us what they bounced the laser off. Maybe a passing eagle?

That email is an Exxon Valdez-sized load of male bovine diarrhea. Don't spead that manure around any further.

I’m not sure that would be the case that an AWACS could detect a laser (correct me, please, if I’m wrong) and it’s unlikely an AWACS was on the scene anyway.

That said, I’m certain that a person who was in a position to know about secret manuevers by the ASW forces of two navies would be able to spell the word “navies,” I’m certain it would be impossible for a sub to engage an airplane that is a good hundred miles inland, so this email is a supertanker load of bovine diarrhea.

Plus, they’d have to engage the plane from beyond the horizon and then some. Look at a map of Denali and look how far it is from the ocean.

The F-22 has a lot of stealth technology—without finely tuned aerodynamic monitoring and correcting computer programs it flies like an F-4 without powerful engines-ie,not too good!

There are all weather aircraft and then there are all weather aircraft in Alaska.

I was a Navy weatherman in Adak Alaska back in the early 70s and one of our P-3s crashed into a mountain during nasty weather and if the Orion,THE all weather aircraft,is unable to dodge a land mass during inclement weather certainly an F-22 can be excused.

If only the things weren't so expensive and the program canceled.

Just so folks know

Denali National Park and Preserve is 6 million acres large. It is larger than the State of Massachusetts

Talkeetna is located on the edge of the Park and is a popular starting spot for climbers of the nearby peaks.

"Near Talkeetna" (at least for Alaskans) narrows things down just a bit.

The crash site itself is actually SE of Cantwell - a place smaller than Talkeetna.

The search area was initially the size of Connecticut, between Talkeetna and Cantwell. The aircraft apparently did not go down inside the boundaries of Denali National Park and park officials at Talkeetna Ranger Station were not involved with the search efforts.

I have humped ruck out there - this is some nasty ass terrain, no roads, few trails and lots of forest. That the AANG search crews found the aircraft (no ELT/deacon) so soon is a testament to their professional search 'cred'.

The most likely cause of this loss (ruling out UFOs, Chinese missiles and all the other crap out there) is simple human frailty. The pilot may have over-G'd and lost conciseness. A board of pros will sort it out and report.

The board finding will not be out anytime soon. The last (prior) F-22 crash (Mar 2009, Edwards AFB) is still being sorted out.

Just a thought - we don't know who will read these threads - they come up in search engine results... Please, have some pity on the family before you post any of the more **exotic** theories floating around in the giant toilet bowl of the 'Net - OK?

Thanks

Really? As far as I know, the sub would need a line of sight to target an aircraft. Lasers don't curve with the horizon.

Your relative is full of it.

Didn’t take it that way, FRiend. And you are certainly right that we need to keep these discussions respectful of this pilot and his family.

Prayers for the family at this difficult time.

Especially since energy weapons are strictly line of sight. Or did the rules change here?
