TSA Asks Breast Cancer Survivor to Show Prosthesis
MSNBC via CalorieLab.com ^ | November 20, 2010

Posted on 11/20/2010 11:54:37 PM PST by South40

Cathy Bossi, an experienced flight attendant for U.S. Airways, was forced to show a TSA screener the prothesis she wears after losing her breast to cancer.

Bossi, who lives in Charlotte, N.C., opted out of the full-body scan due to radiation concerns. During her pat down, Bossi was told by the TSA screener, "Well, you'll need to show me that [prosthesis]," reports MSNBC.

Several other cancer survivors have been embarrassed during the TSA pat downs as well. Musa Mayer, who has worn a prothesis for 21 years, told MSNBC that she's used to alarms going off, but she wasn't prepared for the "invasive" experience of being poked and patted at Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C.

Airlines have the legal right to opt out of TSA security screening and provide their own. The first one that does so, and uses common sense profiling will put the others out of business.

Funny you should mention Bush. If he were still POTUS liberals would be calling these Nazi tactics and he would the head Nazi. But since Obozo is now POTUS libs think this is a-ok.

I think it sucks whoever is pres. And it's just a matter of time before it's stopped.

You are correct. Our government refuses to simplify things by not pointing out the real enemy.

I wonder if the TSA has a DADT policy for their screeners? Or can a openly gay TSA screener do pats downs (of children, ugh)? Inquiring minds what to know....

We need to toss around ideas as to the month we declare as no fly month. Just the idea that people won’t fly will force a quicker resolution to this insanity. March? April? Have to plan ahead, just not too far ahead. This would also get the airlines to get involved as well as places like Disney which relies on people flying in.

There are numerous stories on the internet concerning people with medical problems being harassed by the TSA. Why can’t we insist that a person from the medical profession be available to do the screenings in these situations? Under HIPA don’t we have a right to medical privacy?

No you don’t actually.

HIPPA just prevents your relatives from finding out how you are.

“Law enforcement” basicly has a blank check. [”Ok we see that you had screws in you arm. BTW your blood pressure is a bit high...”]

But they’ll still have to follow TSA policies & most likely be unionized. Doesn’t anyone remember Argenbright?

I don’t understand since why this incident happened in August, but the lady waited till just now to mention it? Why did she not file a complaint when it happened?

The TSA is a prod - someone is attempting to provoke the citizens into true resistance. And when that happens who knows what the next thing will be.
