True story, about 25 years ago, I was appointed to represent two minors in probate court. Their step father was driving down the road and got pulled over for expired tags. The cop ran his plates and found that there was a warrant on him for expired parking tickets. “Sir, I’m sorry but you’ll have to follow me down to the police station and either pay the parking tickets or post bond.” So off they go. He goes in, pays the tickets, comes back out and his Saab won’t start. He tries and tries. After a while the guy from the police motor pool come out and offers to give him a jump. The man freaks out, starts to call a tow truck and totally looses it when the motor pool cop insists. Probably cause now to open the trunk (where Saabs and Miatas keep their batteries) His dead wife was there.
