Kenya says it is surprised and shocked by reported comments about the country contained in leaked U.S. diplomatic memos.
The German magazine Der Spiegel says the cables depict Kenya as a "swamp of corruption."
Kenyan government spokesman Alfred Mutua says that if the report is true, the comments are malicious and a total misrepresentation of Kenya and its leaders.

Actually Kenya was coming along nicely until then US Senator Obama in 2007 went over there and subverted their election to force a power-sharing arrangement with his cousin Odinga (a Marxist, Muslim) and an agreement to give the small minority of Muslims more power. Then earlier this year he put the full power of USA, including a visit by Biden to force a constitutional change to encourage abortions.
