I don't know why Freepers are so hell-bent on painting this WikiLeaks guy in a negative light. The more I read about what has been leaked, the more I think he sounds like "Matt Drudge on Steroids" in many ways.

Heck -- just this morning there were several items posted here on FreeRepublic about WikiLeaks material that exposes the U.S. role in pushing global warming bullsh!t. Who can possible argue with someone who exposes that?

Drudge lost all credibility with me when he started using Alex Jones’ Prison Planet as a source.

If he is posting ANYTHING that endangers the lives of my friends and fellow patriots on the battlefield, he ain’t no Matt Drudge. Try Benedict Arnold.

I saw part of an Assange interview where he claimed he invited U.S. officials (the State Department) to review the material beforehand. He said they refused.

If that is true, and I tend to believe it, I am 100% for Assange.

They've got marching orders from the bankster/eastern establishment wing of the GOP to discredit the Aussiemeister before he releases the info on the big financial institutions.

It's pure cognitive dissonance - "Don't mess with the free market, put Goldman Sachs in charge of us, we love freedom, you don't have rights under a bank owned and run globe - you're free to 'quit'."

I agree.

It's been a visceral reaction for those who've been told for months that "national security" would be at risk. So far I haven't seen or heard anything to support this assertion other than making Hillary look like a boob and some chatter about petty BS.

Maybe Assange could be making the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration chieftains and "Carbon Credit" stockholders look bad? Or maybe even some Banks?

Excellent point. Mike Church had Bruce Fein on his XM Radio show (transcript here) a couple days ago, and since then I've changed my mind on Wikileaks. The clowns in DC work for We the People, and shouldn't be keeping secrets from us. You can't have it both ways. Either we have honest and open government, or we BOHICA.

I’m going to be the first to say that I’ve completely flipped on my views of him.

He has done this nation a real service by enlightening the people as to what our government is doing TO us.

I agree whole heartedly with you Alberta. And with Ron Paul also. The truth sometimes hurts (sorry to use a cliche) but I want to hold my elected officials accountable and if we are not privy to to things how can we keep them in check... Wiki-leaks is like Matt on Steroids... Thank god... Hilary won’t run now... and the chess game that politicians are playing around the world has been dealt a serious set back all because they have been check mated by the “MEDIA” — wiki-leaks in this case.

Really? I think there are two sides to this mess. Still the Bozo in Chief should have addressed this or at least tried to stop this. It makes us look weak.

I agree and his leaks exposed Arab countries who say they want Iran taken out. Even the Israeli PM commented that he was glad that information saw the light of day. By the way I noted nothing was really done at all about the Iraq leaks nothing at all but when it came out there would be information on the banks then 24 hours later Interpol issued an arrest warrant, coincidence I think not.

The real issue is that there are Afghans who aided us who now have big targets on their backs. Or at least *a* real issue.

Agree on the AGW stuff, but that’s not the crux of the issue here.

I agree. Originally the press was supposed to be part of the checks and balances. Honest reporting was to keep government from getting out of hand. We all know how that has worked out, with the press protecting government corruption. There is no way we can know the whole truth of who is behind all this and what the purposes are, but we have to ask ourselves, in the long run isn’t it better that evil and incompetence are revealed? It isn’t only US secrets that have been told.

Most of what was uncovered should have come as no surprise to any sentient being, American or otherwise.

Why Freepers would favor secrecy for the bloated, tyrannical government that hopes to enslave us in a global governance nightmare is beyond me.

My only complaint about the guy is that he didn’t do more, didn’t expose the workings of other international players, other governments, NGOs, the UN, corporate, financial, religious, academic and media behemoths in bed with the political and regulatory appartchiks in our own out of control tyranny.

They aim to enslave us - I, for one, would like to know all I can about what they think and what they’re doing. These leaks did not make me distrust my government - they themselves did that long ago, and I suspect that’s the case for others in the US and around the world as well. They did not put anyone or anything in danger anymore than these clowns already do.
