WikiLeaks: British Police Arrest Assange

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been arrested by British police over sexual assault claims in Sweden, according to Sky sources.

A fresh European arrest warrant has been received by Mr Assange's lawyer - as anger grows in the US over the latest leaked embassy cables by the whistleblowing website.

Sky sources have said officers from Scotland Yard detained the 39-year-old Australian at around 9.30am. Labelling the move as a "political stunt", Mr Assange's solicitor Mark Stephens said his client wants to find out what allegations he faces so he can clear his name.

Two women in Sweden have claimed they were sexually attacked when Mr Assange visited the country in August. He denies the claims.

Sky News' Rhiannon Mills said: "Authorities in the UK are involved because it is believed Julian Assange has been living in the south east of England.

"They are now obliged to detain or arrest him."

Assange's whole reason for fame is his continual political stunts. Thanks bd476.

Not as deranged as the apparatchiks running our foreign and domestic policy.

They all look like a bunch of pansy *ss creeps!

"WikiLeaks is operational. We are continuing on the same track as laid out before," said Kristinn Hrafnsson, spokesman for the group. "Any development with regards to Julian Assange will not change the plans we have with regards to the releases today and in the coming days."

Hrafnsson said the operation would be run by a group of people from London and other locations.

As I pointed out before, if the insurance pack is as ugly as it had to be, right now he’d be in a worse situation by releasing it, and that if it wasn’t filled with newspaper shreddings, so to say. I’m really interested on his next move...

“I was hoping this would happen. Let all of his poison out and let the chips fall where they may. Now, lets see if his co-conspirators are dumb enough to bring the world of hurt down on themselves that releasing their “secrets” gets them.”

Does Assange have an end game (other than a death wish?) Is the jig up?

Guys being held without bail to be extradited...for sex without a condom.
And conservatives support this.

You make the best point of all:

I'll not defend Assange leaking secret documents, but I want to know just who in Hell do the damned Swedes think they are to suddenly stand up and begin crowing and leveling accusations as to one man's immorality?

The damnable Swedes who have dethroned every last vestige of morality ever vested in civil society; the morally bankrupt Swedes who have enshrined in Law that speech against certain forms of immorality is criminal; and NOW this morally vacuous reprobate nation deigns to stand up and pose as some kind bastion of morality??

And the Brits, as well. Benny Hill wasn't debauched enough for them, but now they have the unholy flaming gall to feign indignation and side with the Swedish poseurs?

Assange may be liable to criminal prosecution on the basis of his acquisition and publication of secret documents, but the Swedes and the Brits haven't a moral leg to stand on in seeking to prosecuting him for his immorality.

He was arrested for not wearing a condom. His defense is if he did wear one, it would leak.

And the Europeans think we have sexual hang ups. They should look at themselves.

Because it’s on feminists’ defense, duh. And he’s a white man. And it’s Sweden, the PM is probably a pansy that would be forced to resign if the newspapers publish a short note about how he let go a hideous foreign raper celebrity or something.

The arrest is bad news. With Assange on the street, there was hope for an “extreme prejudice” covert op.

Espionage carries very hard wages, and Assange is an amature, a deer caught in the Obama headlights. He is making the Obama administration look so bad, that the left have turned on Assange.

The question is while Assange be allowed to sing?I hope so. It may reveal the communications he had with a few of Obama's Czars in the run up to the release of documents. I beleive Obama wanted some of them selectively released and was complicit inn having it done. But Asssange went too far to suit Obama, the deal fell through.

So I do not hold much hope out for Assange's longevity. He knows too much, and I believe his life to be in very high jeopardy indeed, even in custody.

The nexus points of double dealing are too often killed in these instances, and we rarely find the truth after.

I will continue to hope that Assange will sing about his Obama negotiations, as long as we know he is alive.

Also it’s sad to see that attractive commie sluts are out there banging these marxist anarchy types. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

As it was back in the 1960's, banging the head honcho is simply required rights of passage for these comrade sisters to join their local marxist cadre. The Marxist feminists seem to love being treated like dirt.

Yet they rail on about being treated like objects by men? Whho knew? Buahahahahahaha!

Assange will seek not be extradited from the UK, and he will demand an extradition hearing, IF he can get it under the European Union rules.Thats a bit iffy.If he gets an extradition hearingm,, the warrant will likely be voided.

You can bet that the Zerotards are trumping up every issue they can with these two maidens to get him back to the leftist Eurofactions who NOW want him imprisoned or dead.

The Obama movement in the USA wants Assange disappeared IMHO.

Interesting how reactionary leftists can be, they now look far worse than their putative image they hold of conservatives in their own minds.

I hope America sees their tyranny and judges the left here in the USA accordingly.

For those that are cheering, ask yourself why he was arrested.

Having the condom break? No evidence?

Even the leaks are tough to charge. The USSC said the media can leak material that they have been given, so can a website.

Don't like the guy, but this stinks.

I cannot believe the venom and vitriol against him from the left and the right.

I think he has done us all a service inadvertently perhaps. We now see a part of the range and spectacle the corruption and stink that permeates our own govt. as well as other govts around the world.

Time for some Hercules to clean the Augean stables.
