Got plenty of popcorn here. The problem with negotiating with any kind of criminal is that they're criminal first. Anyone who would believe anything a criminal will or will not do is not making wise decisions.

Governments have already taken some big hits with the introductory releases.

Arresting Assange shows that they're willing to risk the release of more classified documents.

Either way they did Assange a huge favor because now no one can harm Assange and he will have his chance to be heard in a court of law.

Insurance = the fit may be about to hit the shan.

While it would have been preferable for none of the leaks to come out, especially if they truly damage US interests, they have certainly shown that the emperors are without clothes.

As I pointed out before, if the insurance pack is as ugly as it had to be, right now he’d be in a worse situation by releasing it, and that if it wasn’t filled with newspaper shreddings, so to say. I’m really interested on his next move...
