Mark Reed and Dante Walkup wanted to marry in their home state of Texas, surrounded by family and friends. But there was a stumbling block: Same-sex marriage isn't legal in the Lone Star State.
So instead, the couple had an officiant who is licensed in Washington, D.C. -- where gay marriage is legal -- witness and certify their union from 1,200 miles away via live online video.
The men thought it worked until the day after Thanksgiving, about seven weeks after the online ceremony, when they received a letter from the D.C. Superior Court informing them that their marriage wasn't official after all.
Reed was outraged, presuming the letter was "motivated by homophobia, politics or both," he said.
But the court said its notice had nothing to do with the gender of the men and everything to do with the location of their ceremony.
"Marriage statutes in the District of Columbia (dating back to 1901) requires marriages to be celebrated within the jurisdictional and territorial boundaries of the city," Marie Robertson, a spokeswoman for the D.C. Superior Court, wrote CNN in an e-mail. "Both the officiant and the parties to the marriage must be physically present at the ceremony performed in the district."...

Another legal runaround to tie up the Texas courts with taxpayers defending state law from a well funded agenda.
They are attacking the law they cannot overturn in the legislature with every “trial” balloon they can. And eventually they will find a friendly judge in Austin or Dallas or some place.
It’s not because you are gay; it’s because you are an idiot
How many quarters were spent in the Blow Pop gum machine out in front of the Piggly Wiggly to get the “perfect” ring?
comedy material?
Liberal scum always think anything they don't like is some kind of phobia or hatred. Facts be damned.
It tells a lot about the mindset of the liberal that, in this incident, they assumed that the letter from the court was motivated by either politics or homophobia.
Heck, these Texas activists were trying to make a political statement, by saying they were married by an official in D.C., though they were not actually in that city.
And were they then planning to sue Texas to recognize their DC marriage?
And now they have the mock gay outrage about how homphobic and bigoted society is.
I can never understand the mock outrage of certain people at how bigoted and terrible our society is. Most of the world treats homosexuality very differently than does the western world. Yet from the tone of their outrage, you would swear that we are in Africa, or the Muslim world, or Latin America. These other places are distincly less friendly to the homosexual than America, yet America is somehow the villian. Go figure.
Good because fake “Marriage” isn’t real, and it’s damaging to them and our society!
“I told you, people.”
It’s interesting that it never says what city.
They are playing the Race card under a different approach.
The card is the king of hearts bent over.
Washington D.C. Truth in advertising would require a name change. Hear the word of the Lord you rulers of Sodom.Listen to the law of our God you people of Gomorrah’ For it seems to me the Bible is True and as it is written “Except the Lord
of hosts had left us a very small remnant,we would have been as Sodom and like unto Gomorrah.”If Isaiah and Ezekiel and the Old Testament Prophets could rightly compare Jerusalem to Sodom in their day. And if the apostle Paul could remind
the believers at Rome of this (in his day) and Peter, and Jude
and the Disciple Jesus Loved (John) [in 2peter,Jude,and the Revelation of Jesus Christ] Then I see no good reason the
unrighteous and rebellious city Washington D.C. cannot rightly be reminded of that selfsame example for their selfsame sin.
Actually those are two females that have had surgery/hormones to look like fake, hideous “men”.
The story about them is enough to make a herd of pigs vomit.
