Well actually I’m wearing pinko for all the pinkos out there that ride bicycles and everything, I thought I’d get it in.
What’d you expect? Ron MacLean to come here?
I am befuddled, because I thought I was just doing a good thing coming down with Rob, and I was going to do this here and it was going to be nice and the whole deal.
I’m being ripped to shreds by the left-wing pinko newspapers out there, it’s unbelievable.
One guy called me a pink, a jerk in a pink suit, so I thought I’d wear that for him to today.
You know, it’s funny in those articles, my church, I was made fun of cause I go to church, I’m easy to do it that way.
And I was called maudlin for the troops because I honour the troops, this is the kind of (stuff) you’re going to be facing Rob with these left-wing pinkos. They scrape the bottom of the barrel.
But again, I was asked, why I was asked and I asked Doug (Councillor Ford) why? And he said, we need a famous, good-looking guy and I said, ‘I’m your man, right off the bat.’ I was asked why a landslide. I was in their corner right from the start.
They phoned me, Doug phoned me in the morning, you’ll get a landslide and why, because Rob’s honest, he’s truthful, he’s like Julian Fantino — what you see is what you get, he’s no phony.
And I could go on right now about all the millions and thousands of dollars that he’s going to save and everything.
I’d just like to tell a little story that was in the Sun, I think it was in the back pages, just a little thing and Fiona Crean for 18 months has been trying to get something done with City Hall and in the story, I think some of you know the story, there was a little old lady and all of a sudden she got banged on the door and two guys were there and they said we’re cutting your tree down.
You know, this is a little thing but to me is a big thing.
They said, we’re cutting your tree down, and she said well I don’t want it, that’s my favourite tree, a 100-year-old.
No, it’s down, cut it down and then they send her a bill for $5,000 for cutting it down.
And for 18 months her son and Fiona were City Hall, City Hall please help us. Thirty, 40 calls, unbelievable, nothing, laughed at.
Rob’s in the mayor one day, apology comes and a $5,000 cheque. And that is why I say he is going to be the greatest mayor, this city has ever, ever seen as far as I’m concerned and put that in your pipe you left-wing kooks.

“Grapes” was a great coach for the Boston Bruins. He got the shaft from Sinden.
He is famous for his pronouncements on the air and makes Cosell look meek in comparison.
To make a comparison to this, imagine Sarah Palin’s inaugural in 2012 with Rush talking about how great it is to get rid of all of the left-wing pinheads in D.C. from the veranda of the White House during the ceremony.

As an ex-BC resident, I still remember the hilarious take Don Cherry had of being a church-goer.
Years ago, there was a show where Cherry had a round-table “discussion” on religion. The other lefties praised Jesus for being a “peace-monger” or some libtard nonsense.
Cherry blasted back by saying (as I recalled)..”look, you are all making Jesus into a pussy. Dont you jerks remember he went back to the Temple because thye locals were turning the House of God into a marketplace. he then fashions a whip and kicks every one of those heathens out of his father’s house. For a bunch of non-Christians, you think you know everything..”
also famous for his flamboyant patterned suits.
You need to tune into the CBC and watch some Hockey Night in Canada and see for yourself. The guy is the best!
Don is awesome. I absolutely love the way he makes the lefties heads spin. Our new mayor does that as well - he has all the pinkos in this city up in arms. It’s a thing of beauty. I hate lefty pinkos too.
Sounds like our kind of guy. Being more culturally attuned to F’ball and B’ball, I’m not up on hockey folks.

Look at the picture Jim, any clues there? He is a celebrity for mere entertainment value, you know like a caricature of a person. No one here EVER admires him for his ideas except perhaps other jokes. I have affection for Don Cherry as a long time sports figure but does that mean I think he has anything of merit to say about any serious topics? As you can see by the quoted speech he is not exactly articulate on any other topic besides hockey and violence in hockey. I think the comment about being a “pussy” just highlights both his tendency to being a potty mouth and his sexist attitudes for someone who has spent a fair amount of time chasing “pussy” like it was the only thing that matters, and to use it to degrade other men like there is something wrong with “pussy”, seems quite messed up.
As everyone said, he’s a former Bruins coach and he did NHL broadcasts on ABC in the 1970’s, before cable and Disney took them over. He’s always been very pro-American and a really decent guy.

We had just commenced the attacks on Iraq. The TV was playing Don Cherry's near altercation with his sidekick when Cherry was praising the US and its troops for going to war. Cherry was so ticked off at what his partner said, I thought they were going to get into a fistfight.......
I posted that “who/why” question so long ago that I had to open the thread to look at it for content! Sounds like an entertaining guy, but probably not a source of conservative thought. But, he’s on our side, so we’ll take him!
