A personal note ~ my kids think I'm just a little strange playing these blues and gospel singers from the 1960s ~ but it educates them to a different culture that we'll probably never see again.

Life can be better ~ and every Aretha Franklin song is forward looking, positive, something you feel has just gotta' be.

If you search FR for "Aretha" you'll find that just over 2 years ago she was canceling some concerts because of "broken ribs" and "pain the abdomen".

So this isn't new ~ and it's actually a very grim report in light of the earlier event.

I played all the sounds she has on the net ~ beautiful, just beautiful, and tonight when that little girl opera singer sang for the tree lighting at the White House I thought of Aretha and played a bunch of her earlier stuff against the little girl's, and I've gotta' say this ~ these people were blessed by the Lord in ways that just don't happen to very many human beings. Crowds of ordinary people LIGHT UP at the sound of those voices.

Bless her heart. I remember an album I had of hers back in the late 60’s that I found in the rubble of the locker clean out that was taking place during summer school. She was very, very sweet.
