Wikileaks: Kouchner warns 'prepare for war' with Iran

Sarkozy, then-French FM say the choice is "between an Iranian bomb and a bombing of Iran;" France pressed EU to impose sanctions.

French then-foreign minister Bernard Kouchner warned that there could be a war against Iran, according to a US diplomatic cable released by Wikileaks this week.

The cable, dated September 18, 2007, explains that "three weeks after [French President Nicolas] Sarkozy publicly warned about the 'catastrophic choice between an Iranian bomb and a bombing of Iran'...Kouchner publicly observed that given Iran's behavior 'we must prepare for the worst, in other words, war,' and called for EU sanctions against Teheran."

September, 2007. Glad to see all the highly skilled and highly educated best and brightest (and most expensive) government employees and elected representatives have moved so responsibly on this issue.

Doing nothing and celebrating each other for it with raises and trips around the globe to party sure is a good gig. Even Bill Richardson has the global itch again. He must have reached his goal of eating at every place in the contiguous 48.

Thanks, W, for keeping your thumb up your butt on this one. Now we have Iran about to put medium range missiles in Venezuela, and they’re producing yellow cake. You knew that Obambi would do nothing, and you could’ve hit Iran around this time 2 years ago but didn’t. Thanks a phocking load.
