Mark Madoff, the older of Bernard L. Madoff’s two sons, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Saturday, the second anniversary of the day his father was arrested for running a gigantic Ponzi scheme that shattered thousands of lives around the world.

The younger Madoff, 46, was found by his father-in-law. With him in the apartment was his 2-year-old child, said sources.
Police sources said Madoff was hanging from a dog collar attached to a pipe in the apartment ceiling.

I didn't know this part. Sounds like the kid did the right thing.
It seems that the son is the one that alerted the authorities about the illegals deeds of the father.
The sons were in on it. The father told his kids to turn him in and he’ll take the full wrap. It was orchestrated. Look at the timeline of the actions the sons and their wives took prior to their contacting of the police.

There are just so many ripples of pain.
The ones with any character understand what has happened and feel remorse. There was a European nobleman who killed himself early on.
Condolences to the family and friends of Mark Madoff.
Check out last year’s season of “Damages” (was on FX) - this whole scenario was played out almost scene for scene.
The writers must have had insight into this, because this is a case of life imitating art.

The WSJ had an article just this morning on the Madoff family; Mark was the brother described as “most deeply affected” who had not talked to either parent for two years.

Frankly, I find nothing to gloat about. There have been other suicides related to the elder Madoff’s unconscionable avarice.
I agree. This is the 2 year anniversary of his Father’s arrest.
The Feds were closing in on him. He took the coward’s way out. At least he didn’t kill his 2 year old kid before killing himself.
There’s a recent suspense novel...Money To Burn, author was Grippando I think? In it the Madoff debacle is referenced and one of the big players had a son who apparently committed suicide, and later on it was found to be murder.
I’d look twice at this news and wonder if life imitated art. Insofar as either is what it is...
