Emanuel Renter Testifies in Residency Dispute
The Chicago Tribune ^ | December 15, 2010 | Jeff Coen

Posted on 12/15/2010 3:34:39 PM PST by PBRCat

During an 11-hour marathon session Tuesday, Emanuel testified his family has 100 boxes of their most prized possessions in the basement of the Hermitage Avenue home. He cited that as evidence he maintained his Chicago residence and planned to move back after serving President Barack Obama.

Emanuel said his wife's wedding dress is there in a locked storage area along with family china and a coat that belonged to his grandfather.

But Halpin testified today that Emanuel and his wife, had left only a few items including a piano and their bed. She said she has never seen boxes belonging to her landlords, adding she can get to every part of the basement and that her family stores things like Christmas decorations there.

"There are no belongings in the house, with the exception of what I listed," Halpin said.

Halpin said she became aware of Emanuel's house being for rent by seeing a listing online in June 2009. She made an appointment to see the place through an agent, she said, and spent 30 to 45 minutes looking it over.

Halpin said she thought the home was lovely and asked if it was for sale. The agent said it wasn't but "it may be in the future."

Emanuel testified Tuesday that he "never" considered selling.

Halpin also testified that a real estate manager called her in May of this year to ask if the Halpins wanted to renew the lease.

"I said yes we would," she recalled. "It would be great for us not to have to move."

The manager called in September with what he called "highly confidential" news. Emanuel was running for mayor and wanted to return to the house. But the couple decided against breaking their lease.

Laurie Halpin (one of Rahm Emanuel's two tenants) has contradicted Emanuel's testimony on several key points about his intention to return to his former Chicago home and the continued presence of family clothing, personal effects, heirlooms and valuables inside of the building.

Did Rahm commit possible perjury?

Did Rahm commit possible perjury?

Should be easy enough to find out. Just get a court order and send someone over to look. But that may be a bit too complicated for a Chicago judge to think of.

"Did Rahm commit possible perjury?"

He's a Democrat. In Chicago. Still politically viable. Does it matter?

Or, did Halpin steal Rahm's stuff?

Think about the type of tenant who'd rent something from Rahm!

I think there's enough blame to go around here. Fur Shur Rahm is prepared to do weiner bumps with any one of the people on that board hearing this stuff ~ and odds are good that several of them are up for that!

Your imagination is working overtime. There's no need for that. This is pure show. The Dems run Chicago. That means the laws are only to be used for their benefit. This is purely show.

Hey, Chicago pols don't do something without some benefit ~ even if all it amounts to is just something to hold as blackmail over you for the rest of your life.

I don't have any imagination about Rahm's weiner bumps.

He was into that in DC. He's into that in Chicago.

The benefit is getting their chosen man installed. But since the residency question has come up, they have to address it. That doesn't mean its a legitimate attempt to discredit him.

What does it matter if he’s got stuff in his old basement. I’ve had a box of ‘treasured items’ in my dad’s attic for 20 years - doesn’t mean I live there.

Its simple. Can Rambo produce utility bills in his name, from a place he lived at in Chicago? How many days was he actually in Chicago? His intentions to move back there don’t matter - the question is, was he living there?

Again, no Chicago politician does anything for anybody without some personal benefit. Getting your guy in the race isn't always a full benefit ~ more like a defined contribution retirement program.

These guys will GET SOMETHING TANGIBLE and that's going to include some weiner bump time ~ with pictures!

Do you think this will make any difference at all??
I don't. And the birth certificate is where? And the school, college, and graduate school records are where? and yet the most top secret (read privacy) information of our Government is open to dissemination among tho those who would destroy the United States and are supported by the indigenous media. When the proactive population starts to move I suspect that the mob violence in Washington, UK. Greece etc will begin from the the opposite philosophy.

They can make this so easy. Just ask Rahm what is his final political position, and how long he wHy’s the spot for. Then give it to him. They would save money by not holding phony elections.

I laughed at that gain today for about the tenth time. That is an all time classic, no doubt.
