Christmas has been banned by the Red Cross from its 430 fund-raising shops.
Staff have been ordered to take down decorations and to remove any other signs of the Christian festival because they could offend Moslems.
The charity's politically-correct move triggered an avalanche of criticism and mockery last night - from Christians and Moslems.
Christine Banks, a volunteer at a Red Cross shop in New Romney, Kent, said: 'We put up a nativity scene in the window and were told to take it out. It seems we can't have anything that means Christmas. We're allowed to have some tinsel but that's it.
'When we send cards they have to say season's greetings or best wishes. They must not be linked directly to Christmas.
'When we asked we were told it is because we must not upset Moslems.'
Mrs Banks added: ' We have been instructed that we can't say anything about Christmas and we certainly can't have a Christmas tree.
' I think the policy is offensive to Moslems as well as to us. No reasonable person can object to Christians celebrating Christmas. But we are not supposed to show any sign of Christianity at all.'

Besides one local charity, Homes of Grace, the Salvation Army is the only one I donate time and money to. The Salvation Army really walks it like they talks it.

banning greetings for Ramadan and Eid Al Fittar (sp?) at their shops.
Oh, that’s right...there are virtually no Christians there to offended
about Muslim observances.
They’ve mostly been tortured then murdered, except for the ones that

The cross was always a sign of mercy and help.. The crescent on the other hand is a sign of beheading and murder..

I say the UK Red Cross needs to be banned.
If this is being done so as not to offend Muslims, what about the Christians it offends? Are they going to be open on Christmas Day? This is political correctness gone way too far and way wrong.

Google “Hot Cross Buns Banned”. The Mail and Telegraph covered it. There are lots of stories about it. I’m glad you didn’t have a problem finding them, I haven’t checked, but then I usually go home to the Isle of Man.

OK thanks, I jumped the gun there. I volunteer a couple of times a month working in the middle school first aid room which is run by The American Red Cross with Moms like me. They have a school nurse but we come in handy for band-aids and ice packs and taking temps.
They’ve got it all wrong. Offend the Muslims enough and maybe they’ll leave!
