The inheritance tax the Senate Republicans have proposed, with a $10 million exemption and a maximum rate the same as the maximum income tax rate, is exactly what I proposed on this web site.
I just hope the Senate Republicans remembered to index the $10 million deduction for inflation, or else the real inheritance tax will rise every year due to inflation.
I’m thinking the exemption in this bill is only $5 million. I’ll look it up.
