We used to punish people who did things that everyone recognized as bad, because they violated the written law.
Then we punished law abiding citizens, by passing laws that made it harder for them to remain law abiding citizens.
Then we started punishing law abiding citizens based on whims of government functionaries -- "Your dog approached me, so I shot it."

And now we punish people for wearing sweaters. Just because.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

I did not attend, but was told about the recent concert at our local high school. This is the last winter concert for this teacher- he is retiring. There was a wide assortment of carols, religious and all. The student that was telling me said with a grin they figured his thinking was what can they do to him anyway. He is retiring.

The students weren't punished for wearing Christmas sweaters, get a grip.
