Citing an unnamed military source, Yonhap News Agency reported on Monday that North Korea's deadly shelling of Yeonpyeong Island last month has bolstered support among officials in Seoul for pursuing stealth aircraft technology.

The possession of stealth aircraft beyond the North's detection capabilities could apply great psychological pressure on the regime, the source said, and allow the South to match the military technology of advanced nations

It is cheaper for South Korea buy 100 F-35 jets with all the bells and whistles that starting a homegrown operation. I am willing to bet that Lockheed will give them a excellent deal.

If South Korea, Taiwan and Japan bought the plane they would own the skies for decades.

South Korea won't get F35's any more than Taiwan did, and for the same reason: fear of angering the Chinese.

Obama will make a public show of assistance, then knuckle under and offer them obsolete F-16's, just like Taiwan. It hurts to say it, but don't count on the USA for aid or equipment, you're better off doing it yourselves.

I disagree. The South Koreans have a genuine apetite for the F-35 and they are not afraid of pissing off the Chinese. They have been making a number of inquiries and so has the Taiwanese. The F-35s in Taiwan can give Taiwan a extreme edge.

Why, so nobody will know when you don't respond to NK shelling?

Obama the Hidden Imam's strategy involves Bill Richardson the Crisco Kid rubbing Crisco on everything to keep international relations lubricated.

I favor a Sarah Palin as Ronald Reagan posture, utilizing John Bolton and Lockheed Martin.

A woman shaming Chia Head, and a moustachioed man backed by fifth generation firepower will accomplish more than Wen Ho Lee's protector buying everybody tacos.

It is conceivable that America having an invertebrate pervert as POTUS causes her allies to go limp.

I agree that S Korea and Taiwan have need of F-35’s, but Obama won’t allow it. You may have noticed that he treats our allies with contempt and defers to our enemies. I would be surprised to see him aiding either one of these true democracies and going against his communist friends.
