The gatekeeper on immigration policy
San Antonio Express News ^ | 31 December 2010

Posted on 01/01/2011 7:25:08 PM PST by Racehorse

When Republicans take control of the House of Representatives next month, U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith of San Antonio will become the GOP point person on immigration as chairman of the powerful Judiciary Committee. Smith will shelve immigration reform proposals and scrutinize how the Obama administration has enforced laws. "I’m sure my name is taken in vain sometimes," the veteran congressman says.

This is a teaser for a feature article to be published tomorrow in San Antonio Express News' print edition. It will not appear online for at least a few days after publication.

Teaser posted because this is certainly a provocative tease: "Smith will shelve immigration reform proposals and scrutinize how the Obama administration has enforced laws."

Let us hope that he does not care how his name is taken, and that he goes to work FOR THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA for a change. That should be a real shock for Congress!!

Pat Buchanan on McLaughlin tonight, "Most Underreported News Story for 2010": Illegal aliens are leaving the U.S.A. in droves since Arizona passed it's illegal alien law and Republicans won the House.

Lamar Smith is a stalwart on the immigration. He is my Congressman. He will drive Obama and the democrats crazy. He will not only prevent any bad bills from becoming law, he will also have several investigations and hearings regarding this issue. I Expect great things coming from Smith during this session.

Hypothetical. Smith requests an earmark of 5 million to help protect the border wth Mexico.

Now what?

Well, Texas is one of the places that most of the money needs to be spent. I’m not sure how money spent in Texas for immigration control would be an earmark.

Many fear the drug war in Mexico too much to head south.

What you want Hutchinson to build more two foot dikes and call it a fence.

Smith is strong on immigration. This is good news. Hopefully he will shine a light on the open-borders treason of Obadinga and company.

"Smith will shelve immigration reform proposals and scrutinize how the Obama Administration has enforced laws."

The San Antonio Express News isn't giving Lamar Smith a compliment here. Seems to me, that before you "reform" the laws, you ought to look into how the current laws are working now. In my book, Rep. Lamar Smith is going about things exactly in the right way.

I've noticed a couple of things about the "immigration reform advocates". They never explain what is wrong with the current law. Also, they never tell us, why we should believe the US Government will enforce the "reformed" immigration laws, when they don't enforce the current laws.

The media participates in this fraud on our democratic policies, by going along and enforcing the party line. This of course not only applies to immigration, but to almost every other policy. MSM sinks further and further into impotence, while Fox, blogs and the internet rises as news sources. The suicidal self-destruction of the MSM is simply a wonder to behold. Nothing seems to detract from their death wish.
