Chevy Volt? They cost $42,000!

Put them in a Hyundai Elantra, stick shift with no AC.

when your spending tax payers money, you don’t want them to know that while they are driving Escorts (and paying for it) you are driving Caddies (for free to them)....

I’m glad this came out....

I want the GOP to head out on the floor and start shaming people abusing this perk. All gov't dopes should be in the cheapest car America produces or driving surplus cop cars from city auctions.

Chevy Aveo LS: $12,685

Like most cars at this end of the price scale, the base-model Chevy Aveo is a stripped-down model, though it does get an AM/FM radio with an input jack for an MP3 player, OnStar, and a provision for dealer-installed air conditioning (at extra cost, of course). The Aveo offers a full color palette (unlike the Accent and Versa, offered only in a few dull colors) and a tan interior with fake-wood trim, which sounds cheesy but actually looks pretty nice. You can even get a hatchback version for $200 more. On the flip side, the Aveo doesn't drive very well, it's weak on safety equipment, and adding factory A/C, a CD player, and power windows pushes the price well past $15k. For that kind of money, you can do much better.

Love how the article makes it seem this was something the new congress was doing. This was done by the dems after conyers kid got busted.

My Yahoo news search began there. (Didn't really look up his felon wife this time.)

Any word on what the $27,000 worth of tickets were all about? Maybe that's some other perk.

End every damn taxpayer funded perk they get and cut their salaries in half just for a start. If they don't like it, let them go try to find honest work for the first times in their lives.

I wouldn't supply a car. Let 'em take publice "green" transportation, or ride a bicycle.

Damn straight! Take away their credit cards, executive dining room privledges, office cleaning and trash removal. Let 'em recycle the paper on the way home on a bus.

Yes we do.

I'd cut their salaries in half, take away their retirement benefits, put them on Social Security; and medical benefits the same as those of us in the private sector.

I think there is a heck of a lot more than the 3 of us who have had it with these career crooks. The Tea Party is a good start, but we need to ratchet up the pressure even more because they still don't believe we are real.
Their big hope is that we will get bored, disheartened and fade away, don't think that will happen this time around.

I agree. Sadly, I think it will take protests on Washington to make our point. Depending on the circumstances, and those involved (besides Tea Partiers), there may be violence.

We'll see...

A govnment employee doesn’t need ac and he can roll the windows up and down, that way we will be getting a little work for the money.

Bingo and something the republicans need to undo, but of course some of them were probably doing the same thing so they will help cover it up.

Just remember: All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others. George Orwell, “Animal Farm”.
I read somewhere that the leases cost was over $ 650. per vehicle, per month. there are just under 600 members in congress and hundreds of staff. It would be cheaper to just buy them outright, and replace the every 4 years when the warranty runs out.
