Mel does not care who will be starting at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles against the Dallas Cowboys today. They don't watch pro football at Mel's house.
I don't care, either, especially not after meeting Mel. As fond as any journalist of a thumping good tale about disgrace and redemption, I can't stomach the rosy narrative surrounding Michael Vick's wondrous comeback. Why on earth the president chose to pay sentimental homage this past week to the Eagles for offering a "second chance" to a spoiled millionaire sociopath is an imponderable mystery.

The obama loving NFL smeared Rush Limbaugh as a racist. This thug league is for idiots.
Reminds me of a true story; I had a friend who was a dentist. He happened to be one of only a hnadful of black professionals that lived in a small town and there was another black doctor who moved in a few years later. We were sitting around talking one night and the new doc says to him that he thinks his pratice isn’t growing because he is black.
My friend said to him, it’s not because you’re black; your a bit of an asshole at times.
No one laughed, because it was pretty simply and (truthfully) on point. Leave it to me, though, I slapped him on the shoulder and said don’t worry about it, they don’t run you out of town for being an asshole, if they did Barry (another guy, white guy, in the room) would have been gone a long time ago.
The awkwardness passed but it was still one of those things that stuck with me because it was true, all the way around, yet it froze everyone up in a way that it wouldn’t have had we all been white. And we knew it.
I get absolutely sick to my stomach when I read about Vick's 'exploits', especially considering that an a$$hole like him would think nothing of using my little buddy as dogfight bait. I haven't watched one Eagles game this year, and could care less if they make it to the Super Bowl and win for the first time.
A poster I’m dying to see...
A super-cute, lovable, sensitive, intellingent dog’s face, next to Vic’s face. The words below the pics...
“Who’s the soulless animal?”
Anybody who knows MV’s face, knows what I’m talking about. YEARS before he got into trouble, I’d tell people, “Look at that soulless, vacuous, psychotic face on that guy.”
National Football Leaghe - “We Hire only the Most Talented Felons”
Vic should never come close to a dog again. In fact, he should never come close to people again. If he would do what he did to dogs; he would do it to people.
What Vick did to those dogs was disgusting. I have several animals and can’t imagine hurting any of them. What baffles me though is the outrage of killing dogs. Yet, thousands of human babies are killed everyday and many of those condemning Vick call this a choice. Doesn’t make sense.
Think about how different this country would be if people got half as worked up about the deficit as they did about Michael and Mel. Our politicians have sentenced a generation to a life of debt and you don’t hear Tucker Carlson calling for their execution.
This thug league is for idiots.
Which is why in America that we love, the NFL grows more popular every year.
So you support the NFL smearing Rush Limbaugh as a racist and denying him the ability to buy into a football team? No the NFL is a thug league for idiots.
America largely ceased to exist in 2008.
Eat meat much?
I agree with the author...I believe in second chances once one has served his time, but I don’t have to forgive him.
I don’t blame Vick for trying to get his life back, but the idiots wearing Vick jerseys sicken me. One is reminded of the morons who wear Che shirts.
I see Vick is starting the Pro Bowl ... ahead of class acts Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. That is a travesty.
God forgive me if I root to see him get his face smashed into the turf a few times.
Looks like Pumpkin doesn’t allow anyone to bully Mel anymore. Obama you’re a fuc**ng piece of garbage.
I for one do not care what Vick did to a bunch of dogs,, so what.
While people love their pets Vick didn’t view them as pets.
And with every thing that is going on in our country this is 6,253,917 on my list of things to worry about.
If you don’t like Vick donb’t watch his games, if you don’t like the thug NFL don’t watch the games.
Comment from the Best Friends website...
Each time I hear Vick’s name mentioned, I feel a sense of revulsion.
Mr. President. You have a dog. Take a moment to imagine Bo being thrown into a ring as bait. Visualize the person who threw him as Michael Vick. Think of how traumatized Bo will be for the rest of his life.
Now, it’s a couple years later and your daughters Malia and Sasha are sitting in the Oval Office with you and are wondering why you are calling to congratulate the man who tortured Bo. Just out of curiosity, what will you tell them as you are wiping the tears from their eyes?
What will you say to Bo, who is badly scarred and cowers in the corner anytime a stranger walks into the room? “Don’t worry Bo, Vick’s having a helluva year at QB!”
Running our own zoo with a couple of dogs and a pair of cats, I do see your point, although we love our animals.
Performance is everything.
But so is fair play, so when he becomes ineffective and retires, he should be hung, gently, not dropped, since his neck shouldn’t be broken. Asphyxiation will allow him the time to consider his sins, although I fail to see any way for him to pay them back.
As far as his viewpoint, after his crimes, why would anyone care?
Vick not only used dogs as “bait” in the ring, he gleefully tortured to death puppies who did not show sufficient aggression. He is sick beyond imagination.
I might add that Roger Goodell is quite possibly the most pathetic excuse for an NFL Comissioner I have ever seen. Vick lied to his face about his doings, and Goodell did nothing. Vick also either ran or participtated in cross-state gambling operations involving dogfighting. Professional Athletes are strictly forbidden to mix with gambling, yet, here’s Vick!
Just sick. The NFL used to be a great league. It’s demise is accelerating.
