BOSTON -The youngest son of the late shah of Iran has been found dead of an apparent suicide at his home in Boston. Reza Pahlavi, the shah's oldest son, announced the death on his website Tuesday.
Pahlavi says his 44-year-old brother, former Iranian prince Alireza Pahlavi, had "struggled for years to overcome his sorrow."
Police say they found a man dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday at a home in Boston's South End neighborhood.

Jimmy Carter, thirty years and counting with regard to his international prowess. The ‘pieces’ dividend...
I used to joke them, when they said they were “Persian” that I was a “Thracian”.
But they are the LAST people who should get any grief over being “Iranian” so more power to them that they want to reclaim “Persian”.
Prayers for this sad and sick son of an incompetent tyrant whose soft tyranny led to a greater tyranny and terror under which Iran and the world still suffer.
OMG NO. First the youngest daughter and now the son. All hell is going to break loose in the Iranian American community. Enough already. carter, you can go to hell.
What has happened to the Zoroastrians in Persia over the last couple hundred years is just plain sad and makes me angry.
OH please stop regurgitating your ignorance of what you don't know anything about. All you have shown is that the despotic media has been mightily successful in their propaganda yarn-making of events in Iran for their leftist political agenda. Don't buy what the rats feed you. NOT HERE.
What has happened to the Kurds in Iraq over the last couple hundred years is just plain sad and makes me angry.
What has happened to the Jewish people in Europe over the last couple hundred years is just plain sad and makes me angry.
What has happened to the (insert religious minority here) in (insert just about any nation here (other than our blessed land of religious and civil liberty) over the last couple hundred years is just plain sad and makes me angry.
The best cure for all that rot is religious and civil liberty and capitalism. Socialism subsidizes racism. Check out the essay “The Socialist roots of antisemitism”, the same principle applies to any racial religious or cultural minority.
Sad. RIP.
The Shah of Iran was not a tyrant?
Are you then making the argument that he was competent?
Sorry, by any definition used by free men, Iran was (and remains) a tyranny and history has shown that he was far less than fully competent as a tyrant.
Sorry if the truth offends you.
“All you have shown is that the despotic media has been mightily successful in their propaganda yarn-making of events in Iran for their leftist political agenda. Don’t buy what the rats feed you. NOT HERE.”
Good for you. You’re right. I didn’t see the crime scene or the evidence, but assassination by the Dinner Jugistas still seems a possibilty.
Let me guess...there was more than one wound?
NO the Shah WAS NOT A TYRANT by any definition of that word PUT IN CONTEXT OF THE REGION, THE HISTORY, THE RELIGION, THE OUTSIDE VARIABLES, WHAT THE GOVERNMENT WAS FACING FROM GEOPOLITICAL INTERESTS AND POLITICS, THE COLD WAR POLICIES, AND AND AND, WHAT THAT LAND AND HER PEOPLE WERE SUBJECTED TO BEFORE THE PAHLAVIS AND WHAT CAME UPON THEM AFTER THE PAHLAVIS. The Shah was a reformer and a progressive and a patriot in his heart of hearts. YES, he was WEAK. You can say that about him. And he was timid. and yes he was a FOOL to believe every American leader as long as they were American — he shouldn’t have. Carter was a scumbag despicable vermin and so was his NSA brzezinki whose policies carter followed and THAT IS WHAT THE WORLD IS PAYING A DIVINED TODAY.
RE Carter:
Blood on his hands, for sure. Lots of it.
Like most democrats...they play with dictators, thugs, criminals, and other scum.
How many died in that “revolution” while Carter did nothing?
Oh I am not absolving Carter (the weakest of the weak, he is the weakest link) in the mess.
But the Shah was a tyrant by any definition of the word used by free men. Worse he was, to use your own words, a soft weak timid fool a reformer and progressive.
His “soft” tyranny is why we (and the people of Iran) suffer with the “hard” tyranny of the mullahs today.
So go sell your moral postmodernism “put in context” definition of tyranny somewhere else; I am going with the definition detailed by our FOUNDERS.
The Shah was a tyrant, worse he was a soft tyrant whose fall led to even greater tyranny.
very tragic family- I feel very sorry for his mother and siblings, mental illness must run deep in their genes
RIP
