Liberals Distrust Obama on Social Security

It looks like President Barack Obama has a lot of work to do if he wants to regain the support of his party’s liberal wing. Leftists express concern that he will abandon their views on Social Security in exchange for support from Republicans in Congress on raising the debt ceiling, The Hill reports.

The worry intensified after Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., (pictured) told NBC Sunday, “I will not vote for the debt ceiling increase until I see a plan in place that will deal with our long-term debt obligation starting with Social Security, a real bipartisan effort to make sure that Social Security stays solvent, adjusting the age, looking at means test for benefits.”

Those are actually quite moderate views. But they prompted Nancy Altman, the co-director of Social Security Works, to tell The Hill, “What I am really afraid of is another deal behind closed doors. At least with President Bush, he went around the country on a tour and presented his plan, and people didn’t like it.”

It’s amazing how the liberals could be so ideologically attached to a dammed scam like Social Security. It’s truly puzzling.

Just because someone is a liberal, does that mean they have to be stupid about EVERYTHING???

"old folks paid off"

Just what is it that makes you think us old folks can be bought off with your worthless paper dollars? How much a head in gold are you willing to put up?

Establish some kind of cut off date or age, offer some kind of provisions for those close on either side and then KILL IT.

Why not? If someone is stupid about EVERYTHING it means they have to be a liberal.

Yep. It should die a natural death. It is a program past its prime and not up to date. A slow easing of it is the plan and let the young do better.

Works for me. Just give back to me what I and my employer have paid into it over the last 43 years.

Real friggin' simple.
