WASHINGTON -- Ascending to speaker of the House, Rep. John Boehner is ready to take the gavel from Democrat Nancy Pelosi, vowing to "give government back to the people" and bring an end to congressional gridlock.
"The American people have humbled us. They have refreshed our memories as to just how temporary the privilege to serve is," Boehner says in remarks prepared for his installation later today as the new speaker. "This is their Congress. It's about them, not us."

Way to go, OHIO!
NE Ohio PING, please! :-)
if he starts crying on TV again, time to change the speaker.
Finally some measure of sanity on the Hill. Pelosi should be imprisoned.
>> bring an end to congressional gridlock.
WTF? WHAT gridlock?
Gridlock is what we need more of. Better yet, backing OUT of legislation. If we did nothing but REPEAL laws for an entire congressional term we’d be way better off as a nation.
Two years my foot! The Democrats have had control of the House, and therefore funding bills, for more than two years!
John needs to get a broom with blackened bristles to display, rather than the gavel.
Thank you. I’m watching.
I’m proud to be an Ohioan today.
Let’s hope the idiot doesn’t start his blubbering.
Just part of the MSM effort to rewrite recent history so they can blame 2006-2008 on Bush.
He can’t make it up the aisle to the Speaker’s chair without crying. LOL.
Has anyone put the changing of the guard on You-Tube yet?
The attacks on Boehner will be MERCILESS now.
Expect all the usual suspects (NBC, Couric, MSNBC, The View, E! Television, etc.) to go in to HATE-Overdrive now.
Pelosi is still talking. She hasn’t handed over the gavel yet.
OMG...Pelosi is going out with a laundry list of the Dem “accomplishments.” In Boehner had any balls, he’d rebuff all of them, saying, “if the American people believed any of that, we wouldn’t be turning the gavel over today, would we?”
Such decorum.
