Chicago mayor candidate addressed Hamas-tied group

Muslim Americans are experiencing a "new version" of the civil rights struggles faced by African-Americans in the 1950s and 1960s, Chicago mayoral candidate Carol Moseley Braun told a radical Islamic group that is an unindicted co-conspirator in a scheme to raise money for Hamas.

"The Islamic community today is faced with a new version of an old struggle," Braun said. "My late mother used to say it doesn't matter whether you came to this country on the Mayflower or on a slave ship, through Ellis Island or the Rio Grande. We're all in the same boat now."

Braun was speaking in an unannounced appearance at the 40th convention of the Islamic Society of North America, or ISNA, held in September 2004.

At the time of her speech, Braun, a former Illinois senator, was attempting a run for the presidency, making her the first and only presidential candidate to address a forum of the ISNA. She reportedly asked the ISNA crowd to support her for office.

I don’t think she is a serious candidate for mayor, more like a female Roland Burris a machine candidate meant to short circuit any challenges, this time from the black voters of Chicago. She will give the muslims some of the old Lib medicine of “bad whitey”, “evil America” take their money and go back on the Machine payroll and wait for the next opportunity to cash in on the “black card.” Personally I think hoisting Rahm as the Dem’s godfather will backfire, he is not a nice looking or nice acting man and his popularity hits a table edge outside of his small demo of co-ethnics and far left whackos such as the gay terrorists.

Yes, Braun really cares about her mother as shown in this George Will article from 1998:

"In 1992 she won 53 percent of the vote against a Republican candidate who was weak even before he decided it would be a good idea to reverse himself on abortion, becoming pro-choice on the eve of the announcement of his candidacy. She won even though it was revealed that in 1989 she and her siblings split a $28,750 inheritance that was supposed to go to her mother, a nursing home resident who was supposed to use the money to reimburse Medicaid."

In her mind the struggle is the same — both her and the Islamists want to overthrow the group they’ve convinced themselves are “oppressors”.

One guess as to what that group may look like.
